DF Spoilers / Re: Did I miss something? [Battle Ground Spoilers]

Lara mentions the boat being found run aground in indiana, and was repairable, in the last chapter.

I just went back to the line. Harry only gives Alfred the eye. The spear is not mentioned at all.

DF Spoilers / Re: The Brute Squad
« on: July 19, 2017, 06:55:35 PM »
Yes, they were. Everyone at Archangel was killed when it was attacked.

In universe, its been over 10 years since the battle of Archangel. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a new brute squad running around, and we just haven't heard of them because Harry wasn't invited to join.

When I first read Cold Case, I made the following note

Now that the story is released, it's time for me to get to business with the actual theorizing...  (more to come)

Data points:  These are bits of information about various fae and their natures with respect to their reproduction, life cycle, and social structure
  • Eldest:Examples:
    • Eldest Gruff
    • Cat Sith
    • Eldest Fetch
    • (theoretically) Lea
  • Mother Summer quote from Cold Days about relationship between Fae and Mortals
  • Changelings don't necessarily have to be first generation.  It could be a from a Fae Grandparent or maybe even farther back
  • Wealth of conflicting WoJ that Mab used to be a human, all Fae have some mortal nature, and conversely that she and all sidhe had origins like Toot Toot
    (click to show/hide)
  • List of known Changelings and their likely progenitors
    • Ace:  Redcap
    • Meryl:  Troll
    • Lilly:  Nymph?
    • Fix:  Gnome?
    • Sarissa/Maeve:  Mab
    • Molly?: ?? (see Twitter WoJ above)
  • Bestiary:  This list will have three sections.  Those that seem impossible to have mated and thus procreated with/from humans (Nonstandard).  Fuzzy middle
    • Standard Changelings:  Those that seem impossible to have mated and thus procreated with/from humans.  It's possible some of these use glamor to get it on...
      • Sidhe
        • Mab
        • Redcap
        • Leananshidhe
      • Gnomes
      • Jenny Greenteeth
      • Gruffs
      • Trolls
      • Ogre
      • Fetches?
      • Dryads
    • Nonstandard: Those that seem impossible to have mated and thus procreated with/from humans.  It's possible some of these were shape shifted when encountered in the books, and can shift to a more Sidhe like form like Redcap's falcon buddies, or the Miksani
      • Malks
      • Otters
      • Giant Bees
      • Dew-Drop Fairies
      • Raw-Head
    • Fuzzy Middle:  Mostly quadrupeds that also have anthropomorphic tendencies.
      • Centaurs
  • The example of the Miksani:  Things of note for this reference are:
    • The Miksani are a "Hidden Peoples of the Winter Court."
    • Community appears to reside wholly upon the Mortal Plane.
    • Apparent family/tribal structure with members at various points in a life cycle.  "Elders," "Children," apparent "adolescents"
    • Shape Shifters (cormorant)
    • Apparent Non European mythology background
    • Pay "Tribute" in the form of children to man the armies at the Outer Gates
  • Serack's Origins of the Sidhe reference topic
The linked topic is my attempt to build a reference topic that does some very heavy lifting when it comes to collecting ideas from all kinds of mythological sources other than just the Dresden Files.

In Summer Knight, Meryl refers to Lilly as being Half-Nixie.
"I'll just tell the cops that a half-nixie, professional nude model, went missing in Fairieland."

If Elaine was infected, I would bet money that Part of what Dumorne was doing when "Entralling" Harry and Elaine included infecting them. If Elaine was infected then, it makes sense for her to be the source of Aurora's infection.

thats likely the erlking, hunting having replaced war in some respects. apollo? sun? summer? summer king? erlking? ::)

Apollo has Sun, Light, intellect, prophecy, and truth among others. Primarily my exposure to Apollo has been as a god of wisdom enlightenment and intellect. The Greek god of of war was Ares.  If he has appeared as one of the immortals I would bet he got rolled into Odin, but I don't see the Erlking as a fit at all.

DF Reference Collection / Re: Mouse's Origins
« on: September 24, 2012, 08:30:20 PM »
One thing to note, text-wise, Mouse enters the story immediately after Harry is exposed to Lasciel's shadow. Something tells me this isn't a coinicidence. If I were Mr. Sunshine, I might makes sure that a certain wizard that seems to be tied to many important events had a positive influence in his life that balanced out the negative.

Lash was a corrupting influence, whereas Mouse gave harry positive memories to draw on, even a motivation. There is a passage in Dead Beat, where Harry is feeling like he is in over his head, and he recalls that Mouse "thought I was pretty darned cool" and it picks him up.

I don't think this was a 7 words type balancing of the scales. But more of a life-line if you will.

nice going so far Serack. there was a piece of a quote from the book you cut off i think is significant though. when you talk about his sentinel abilities you left off that he can harm spiritual creatures and his bark effects across the NN boundry. that is powerful in itself.

as to when he tells Lea he won Harry. i have always said it was meaning he won the PRR (Puppy Royal Rumble) to stay with Harry.

and the part of Blood Rights where Harry looks back at the Pups and finds that the Notch-eared Puppy had fought his way to the top of the dog pile supports your theory wonderfully.

The Jim Butcher Files - by Harry Dresden.

I now have this image of Harry laughing himself silly with Bob, and Molly standing behind him and Mab for a creative inspiration, as he writes about Jim while uttering "Payback's a B****"
Thank you, you have made my day.

Here is a possibility.

SK: Elaine says that Justin got to her the day she stayed home sick from school, which she says is about 2 weeks before Justin sends "That Demon" (HWWB) after Harry.

This one might be ambiguous, but Harry's exposure to the Hexenwulf belt in FM? It was a spirit of rage, and given its effect on him, I can imagine it left a mark.

Do you want to include the times his head has been effed with? Because then you might add

Mab - SMF
Molly-SMF

these might have left a strong enough impression that they could manifest
