Also, "The Vampire Lestat" includes Armand and his group of flunkies being held at bay when Lestat enters a church.  Armand knows that he can enter with no ill effects, but the others don't come inside for fear of their (un)lives.  Not quite the same as magic affecting them, but still a similar concept.

Oooooooh, yeah.  The internet is my playground.  I ride the bus to work every morning and type on my blackberry, so that's when the work gets done, but for editing and getting an overall feel...well, I'm working on book 2 when I still have 28 chapters of editing, not to mention a second round of editing after that, and designing a cover (photography, 3D modeling programs, photoshop, etc.) that needs to be done.

And instead of getting going on that I'm reading forums.  D'oh!

Wow.  I really like your system.  Very unique in the applications and limitations.  You can do a lot with that.

Question, though - you said maybe stronger spirits would have a harder time staying over, but in another post nature spirits and other very strong ones would be almost native to our realm.  Should something be reconciled there?  Like maybe the spirit made a pact with the land itself in order to stay?  That way it would be region specific and would account for different cultures and their different mythologies.  Just a thought.
