"Fifteen minutes long, because you’re in a hurry and we’re not that smart."

Love that line. :D Brandon is a great guy, and kilks is right, these podcasts are fun and informative.

Author Craft / Re: Question for authors: Have you written lately?
« on: June 29, 2007, 07:59:16 PM »
I try to keep writing 1000 pages a day, but right now I'm sort of in a readjustment period from starting my first job on an overnight shift.

Satirical religious "I am so going to hell for writing this" fantasy. THat's mine.

I DESPISE it. It's one of the reasons I could never read much of L.E. Modesitt's stuff. I just can't seem to get into it at all.

VERY good. I've never been a poetry reader (I stick to Poe and my friend Christina's work) but I really liked it. Good job!

I listen to Lacuna Coil, Staind, Sentenced, Musical scores, Lordi, Apocalyptica, Soundtrack to Last Samurai, it all depends upon what mood I'm in. Although I usually stick to hard rock/metal because it makes it easier for me to concentrate(as odd as that may sound).

I just saw it at Barnes, so I'll be picking it up in the next couple days.

Same here. My debut novel should be done somewhere around September, and the total words should be around 100,000.

I've recentlly realised I'm no good at plotting. I have a great concept, I have characters that I like to think are believeable, and I know how the book starts and ends, I just can't come up with enough plot to keep it interesting all the way through.

Well, no offense, but that may cause a problem to a writing career.

But I'd suggest picking your best idea and then meticulously outlining it so that you're essentially filling in the blanks with outstanding characters and plots.

Heyo, I'm Luke and I've been writing for about 14 of my 18 years alive. Of course I would hope I have improved since then.....

But anyways, I actually have 10 novels in outlining, the majority of which are just random ideas that took on a life of their own in a way that made me think I could easily write a book about them. They vary from urban fantasy to serial killer crime novel to satirical fantasy. Basically there is only two that I am entirely focused on at this point and those are both over 30,000 words. One is a fantasy about an errandrunner for God and Lucifer who gets caught in the crossfire when he "borrows" an item that could cause the apocalypse. The other is just regular old fantasy, Demons, etc.

Well the character for my novel scored a 9. So that's definately good.

It doesn't matter to me. I read historical fiction/fantasy/horro/urban fantasy all the time when I'm writing my fantasy/creature fiction/mystery books and it doesn't interfere in the least.
