Calendar Event Discussion / Re: PENSACON (Pensacola Comic Con)
« on: January 12, 2018, 06:00:22 PM »
That's right, you're down that way now.
Yeah, I've been down here since October, but I officially moved down to Tampa about a month ago now, and then I see Jim's coming to Pensacola! It's only about a 7 hour drive...
If I go, I'll probably fly...

But I'm trying to find Jim's schedule so I can get an idea when I need to be there and what's going on. Do you know who I need to ask, or where I need to look?

Also, surprising you were able to start a topic here.
That's been mentioned before...  8)

Calendar Event Discussion / Re: Where would YOU like Jim to appear?
« on: September 29, 2015, 07:03:46 PM »
If possible it'd be really coold to see Mr. Butcher in the Washington D.C. area.

I've been pushing Dynamite to try to get him at Baltimore Comic Con for a few years. They always seem like they don't know who to talk with to get him scheduled.

Calendar Event Discussion / Fan Meetup after Baltimore Comic Con 2015
« on: September 14, 2015, 10:07:34 PM »
It's almost that time of year. Baltimore Comic Con is coming up in 2 weeks. Does anyone want to do a meet up after the Con on Saturday?

Maybe 7:00 when Con is winding down?

Any recommendations for where?

Let me be clear, Jim is not scheduled to attend Baltimore. But on an entirely unrelated topic, Paul Blackthorn, costar of Arrow and star of the show which shall not be named, will be at BCC this year, also not at our Meetup.

Thank you!

I would love for him to come Maryland and/or DC!  ;D

Where's the +100 button...

We recorded his Q & A on Saturday November 9.  It's in two parts.  In total about an hour long.

Thank you, my audio was washed out and unusable or I'd have posted mine as well.

Serack, are you here yet? (Is that you dressed as Billy the werewolf?)

If you're talking about the University of Chicago T-shirt, that was probably me!

Wandering around downstairs now. Wondering where everyone is...

FaerieCon East
November 8th-10th
Baltimore, MD

Now in it’s sixth year, FaerieCon East remains the largest gathering of faerie artists and authors in the world. And this year, we are making a number of changes and and additions to make your FaerieCon experience even more fun, informative and inspiring. The FaerieCon universe continues to expand to embrace fantasy, steampunk, goth, metaphysics and many other genres who enjoy sharing their diverse interests and passions throughout the weekend.

Two quick Questions:
What day would be the best to come out?
Is there a chance of stealing Jim for a Fan Dinner like MarsCon? <-- Subtle Emphasis...

Here's the link to their schedule:
http://faeriecon.com/convention-information/programming/

But I think I've pulled out the interesting bits below:
    Friday November 8th
    • 2:00-3:00 (Tack Suite) Jim Butcher “Heroes and the Other Guys: Creating Protagonists and Antagonists”
    • 5:00-6:00 (Tack Suite) Author Tea: Drop by and see who’s hanging out.
    Saturday November 9th
    • 1:00 – 1:45 (Salon A) Seelie and Unseelie: Choosing Sides in Faerie: Jim Butcher, Charles deLint, Melissa Marr, Sarah Zettel
    • 2:00-3:00 (Garden Room) Spotlight on Jim Butcher
    Sunday November 10th
    • 11:30 – 12:15  (Salon A) Faerie in the Marketplace (Authors): James Owen, Gavin Grant, Jim Butcher, Melissa Marr

Ok. Thank you. I will take what I can get. These 3 books will be cherished. This will probably be the only chance I will get to see him. It seems that Atlanta is as close as he comes to me and that's over 100 miles away. I want to thank you for your time in responding to me.

No problem, and before I forget, Welcome to the board!

A few years ago I asked for Mr. Butcher to come to Dragon-con and then contacted Dragon-con with the information on how to get him. Then the following year he was there. I got to where he was an hour early and was to late. I was told the line was to long already, so I left with my dreams crushed. I tried to make it to a signing in Atlanta but was in the hospital at the time. I try to keep a check on his signings hoping to get one close enough. Then I learn he will be at Dragon-con this year and I plan on getting to where he will be signing around 3 hours early.
Three hours early is a good idea. I showed up for the DC Signing for Ghost Story about two hours early and might not have gotten tickets if it wasn't for some good hearted Forumites who gave me their extra tickets.  The line was already out the store, down the hall, and out into the parking lot of the mall.

My word of advice when you get to the CON, look for someone dressed up as Dresden and HANG ON!   :P

I just have one question is there a limit on how many books he will sign? My hotel is over a mile away and i don't want to lug all of these books around if I can't get them signed. I know some people would say that is not far, but it is for a one legged man.:)
The traditional limit is three items.  It's considered bad form to bring more than that and some venue's have firm restrictions that are even lower.

Does Mr. Butcher accept gifts? If so does he have a preference of adult beverage?
Jim, like several others on the forum, has stated that he doesn't usually drink any adult beverages.  Nothing against other people drinking, just personal choice.  His usual beverage was Coca-Cola, then Diet Coke, but now... I don't know.

Good luck at DRAGON-CON, wish I could go...

Until the cons in question make their announcement, we can't make ours.  No idea when they'll let loose their squee.
Figured, but... I've been at work for 15 hours and it looks like I'll be here for a while... I had to ask...

*wave*
Hoss, how are ya'!

Jim's assistant informed me that the Maryland con wants to wait a bit longer to make the announcement.  It's in November, so don't worry about planning. :D

<begging shamelessly>
Any chance we can get this announcement to ease the pain of being stuck working over the holiday weekend?

Calendar Event Discussion / Re: New York Comic Con 2013...
« on: November 16, 2012, 09:14:59 PM »
I had no luck getting a bunch of Dresdenphiles or Butcherites together for Baltimore, and it seems like New York has a good sized group each year.  Granted, New York also has about 10 times the attendance, but...  I'm sure that as nothing to do with my organizational skills and everything to do with the Con...  :o
