Am I for hoping that an Orangutan was swinging into shelves unknown with an important volume or two?

Having finished that stands out for me.

I got more of a River Tam vibe off of her.  Luna Lovegood is quirky.   River Tam is insane and dangerous, but well-meaning.
This

Her need to speak indirectly to most people around her was pure genius.  Rowl is still my favorite PoV in the book.

Looking forward to seeing that many Dresden cosplayers in one place.  It won't be as trippy as the 30 deadpools all singing Bohemian Rhapsody last year tho.  Unless...

I know!  Looks like Jim is in for a long session (two back to back)  Lots of fans getting signatures!

Next year for CS:TAW  (too early for abbreviations?)

You can find most of Jim's talks on the Urban Fantasy track's website:  http://urbanfantasy.dragoncon.org/

Looks like he's doing panels at 10pm on Friday and Saturday, 10am solo in a ballroom on Sunday and another panel on Monday morning at 10am.  Last year he also had a talk on the writers track and another showcase on the main programming list.

Signings are scheduled as well.

Hope this helps.

I cant find him listed on the website anywhere.  I cant go to Dragoncon, but I have someone that is willing ot take a book there for me to get autographed as long as i am taking care of any costs involved

As slayn points out, he's going.  As for costs it's just the line you have to wait in.  He doesn't charge for book signings (does any author?)

Same here.  Hell, if the publisher does allow an early release, The Missing Volume will probably have several stacks of signed copies, meaning you can still skip the signing lines :).
Ack!  If it wasn't signed while I watched it doesn't count!

Anyway, Jim Butcher signing lines have the coolest fans in them.  Totally worth it.

I just looked at my collection, I have zero books by Jim that need signing.  Unless the Cinder Spires book is available at con I can actually skip the signing lines...  Who would have thunk it?

Going to Dragoncon for the 14th time

This
The Humor in Urban Fantasy panel was the best thing I saw at Dragon Con.
But a close second was Jim casually telling Paul Blackthorne what Harry had gotten up to since the series was cancelled.  Priceless.

Digging out the Black Company novels to see if they are as good now as then #writerstrackpanel

PilgrimDan:

I've been attending Dragoncon since 2000, yes the convention has gotten bigger in many ways.  You must remember that it is a non-profit fan run convention.  They started in one hotel and now use all the convention space of five major hotels in downtown Atlanta plus the exhibit space of the Atlanta Merchandise mart.  50,000 is an accurate count for attendance from what I've heard about last year's count.  The drunken atmosphere complaint isn't accurate from my experience, there is plenty of drinking going on but I have never witnessed someone spewing.  The only real issues happen when someone stops at the bottom of an escalator.  As for the author in question... he wasn't Jim.  I was on line for over an hour waiting to get books signed last year.  Twice.  I had three books to get signed they were limiting people to two at a time to try and get through the whole line in the hour allowed.

I have attended many other cons but Dragoncon is the one that keeps me coming back.  By comparison NY Comicon (my hometown con) is a horrible zoo.

The app was just updated, I strongly suggest anyone attending con get it from iTunes or the play store.

Calendar Event Discussion / Re: Jim's Dragon*Con 2013 Schedule
« on: August 30, 2013, 01:32:50 AM »
Dragoncon is my one con a year most years, so I too was at that debacle that was the Jim Butcher signing at Dragoncon 2010... I was also one of the people who lined up outside the dealer's room in hopes he would be signing at buzzy multimedia's booth.  I don't use twitter so I missed the improvised streetside signing.  This year should be much easier on the fans.  Three books to get signed means at least two signing lines.  On a positive note I did get the artist to autograph my Backup hardcover that year and I braved the cattlecall that is NY Comicon later that year to get the autographs I missed at dragoncon.

I'll be the guy with the "Ick in magic" and Splattercon buttons on my badge lanyard.

Calendar Event Discussion / Re: Jim at New York Comic Con - Oct 8-10, 2010

I just dropped the bucks on a NY Comicon ticket, even though I'm local I wasn't planning on going as  I have a co-worker that is off that weekend to attend.  I am going to try to make it one day at least to get the books signed that I missed getting at Dragoncon.  At least the Javits center isn't too far off my normal zones.
