Welcome to the jungle, it gets worse here every day
You learn to live like an animal in the jungle where we play

On second consideration, this sounds like Molly telling Harry what it's like living inside the Winter Court.

Welcome to the jungle, we got fun and games
We got everything you want, honey, we know the names (What possible fae names has Harry missed? THE MOTHERS)
We are the people that can find whatever you may need
If you got the money, honey, we got your disease

It's a jungle, welcome to the jungle
Watch it bring it to your n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n knees, knees
Oh ah, I wanna see you bleed

Welcome to the jungle, we take it day by day
If you want you're gonna bleed but it's the price to pay
And you're a very sexy girl, and very hard to please
You can taste the bright lights but you won't get there for free
(Sounds a bit like Molly here)

In the jungle welcome to the jungle
Feel my, my, my serpentine (Yeah, I know what Axl is singing about, but what was Molly's significant tattoo?)
I wanna, I wanna hear you scream

And when you're high, you never, never wanna come down
Down, down, down, down, yeah heh heh heh heh yeah

Welcome to the jungle, it gets worse here every day
You learn to live like an animal in the jungle where we play
(Could be a reference to Winter or of Molly afraid of losing herself in Winter)
If you got hunger for what you see, you'll take it eventually (A warning for Harry? The first interaction he had with Winter was bargaining for power with Lea)
You can have everything you want but you better not take it from me...

DF Spoilers / Molly Sending a Hidden Message?
« on: July 22, 2024, 06:34:09 PM »
So, I was considering Molly's entrance in Battle Ground. She leads her Army of Children into battle with her One Woman Rave blasting Guns N Roses' Welcome to the Jungle. The song came on the radio during my commute to work this morning.

It's the first time I've paid attention to the song in a Dresden Files context. Plus, we've seen several examples of how her mantle forces her to behave in a very un-Molly way.

I think it's not only possible, but also very likely, that she may have picked that particular song not only as a battle anthem, but also as a way to avoid fae restrictions and sneak a message to Harry, directly in front of Mab.

I don't want to argue my point before you read the lyrics yourself. I want fresh eyes to see what I saw.

I think there's a lot going on there that's going to reveal a whole bunch about the fae courts.

DF Spoilers / Re: Is Harry a good mentor
« on: July 05, 2024, 04:00:12 PM »
Molly is holding out against the mantle. She's strong enough to stand up in defiance of Mab. That speaks well of her family, and Harry credits them for that in BG. But it also speaks to her mentor teaching her about the correct use of power. And that is a credit that Harry would never acknowledge.

Harry's mother, daughter and apprentice all have the same first name. Molly is a nickname. Her real first name is Margaret.

Margaret LaFey, aka Maggie Sr?
Yes, she has featured here & has been theorized-about a fair bit.

Her mother -- Ebenezer's wife(?) -- has IIRC been WoJ'ed as a full-mortal.
Ebenezer's wife was a full mortal, without magic. IIRC, Jim's words were that she was a vanilla mortal.

Nowhere in that statement was anything that could be construed as saying that Ebenezer's wife was Magaret's mother. Anything else is presumption.

I was coming here to post this thought on Magaret.
Do we know that Margaret died from Lord Raith's entropy curse? What if she traded her life to Lea in her bargain for Lea to protect Harry? She could have still levelled her death curse at Lord Raith. And nobody outside the bargain would be the wiser.

Harry makes incorrect assumptions all the time. Why couldn't powerful supernaturals do the same? "I shot my entropy curse at her and she died. Ergo, I must have killed her."

I think Harry and Lara do marry ...do the wild thing honeymoon...and Lara conceives...just a afterthought twist... besides Maggie needs to be a big sister. 😳😜👍
Mab's comment on the establishment of the lasting alliance between Winter and The White Court stated that there should be an issue, a "blending of bloodlines". That means a kid.

DF Spoilers / Re: Bonnea goes from zero to sixty
« on: June 05, 2024, 02:56:19 PM »
Bonnie has a lot of parallels to Athena.

Pandora had a body made from clay and given life from Athena.

Zeus merges spirits of departed warriors with their bodies using soulfire. Harry has soulfire.

It's possible that Bonnie will get a human body and become a real girl.

Per Something Borrowed (I think that's the title. I don't have a reference handy) The marriage ceremony removes true love's protection. Once the wedding goes down, Harry has no protection from Lara.

Other than Mab's warning to Lara to not feed on her knight.

DF Spoilers / Re: How Murphy could return to the Dresden Files
« on: March 01, 2024, 02:48:11 PM »
Let's face it. Murphy is going to return as a Valkyrie.

But, Murphy doesn't fit the physical model of a Valkyrie, you say. We don't know for certain how Valkyries are created in the Dresdenverse.

One-eye has Soulfire. It makes things real. It's how he rejoins the Einherjar's spirits to their bodies. (WOJ, Dresden Files podcast, December, 2020) Soulfire makes things real.

So, Odin makes a Valkyrie statuesque body from clay (plenty of examples from various myths), uses Soulfire to make it real, then uses Soulfire again to fuse Murphy's soul with the new body. Bob's your spirit in a skull, new Valkyrie.

This would also give Jim fertile ground to give a couple of appearances of the "new character" that we could go back after the reveal and say "Oh, Jim. You absolute bastard! You were torturing Murphy and Harry didn't know!"

Which is the most Jim-catnip thing, ever. And that's why he will do it.

DF Spoilers / Did Molly teleport
« on: February 16, 2024, 08:50:14 PM »
One of the ways Jim loves to hide things is by showing us the effect and then explaining the cause in an urelated fashion later.

So, at the beginning of Battle Ground, Molly disappears from the docks in a blast of cold air. The Winter Knight feels the cold. Major forces were being thrown around.

Later, Marcshiel teleports during the fight with Ethniu near the lake. Harry is gobsmacked and goes into a long monologue about how awesome this is and how much skill it takes, even when both points are within easy viewing distances.

The thing is, if Molly had opened a way to the Never Never, it would have been visible and Harry's seen plenty of those. But because he didn't see her disappear here and reappear there, he never put two and two together to realize that it was a teleport. (Our hero is not all that bright.)

Is this a clue that Molly is as far above Marcshiel as Marcshiel is above Harry?

DF Spoilers / Re: The Mother's Cottage
« on: February 04, 2024, 01:37:01 PM »
Because when Hecate split her power into the mantles to sponsor the fae courts, she took the Mother Winter mantle for herself to regain immortality. Thus, the power of both fae courts is hers. The snowflake on the Mother's cottage is merely acknowledging that fact.

13
We have WOJ the Greco- Roman pantheon held the Gates before the Fae and that elements of that pantheon poured power into the Mantles of the Winter Court, Harry’s guess as to the mothers names indicates that.
The Dresden Files Podcast interview of December, 2020, has Jim saying that the various pantheons traded off until TWG told them to scram. Then a sponsor came forward to set up the fae courts. The fae had always been the foot soldiers guarding the gates and the pantheon gods provided the muscle. The sponsor replaced the pantheon gods in backing up the fae and put Winter (and some Summer) on the job at the Outer Gates.

14
Because the White God told the pantheon gods to get out of reality and have nothing more to do with humanity or to surrender their immortality and stay.
