Calendar Event Discussion / Re: Signing in Lexington, KY on 7/30

For some reason I thought this event was on August 4th.  I've been on bed rest due to having my L-5 & L-4 discs removed on July 21nd and just was released to drive Tuesday.

Wow allot of posts today on the site.  Thanks to everyone that made a post.  On the having to refresh, it's tough once you design a website to change things around too much without cost.  It's been this format since I've been reviewing books almost a year ago.

Bah, finally have a chance to post.  Well I must say it was great to meet everyone and if I was a bit of lurker and not much of a conversationalist... Well it's how I am :D  Had tons of fun playing Munchkin with everyone it's been at least 2  or 3 years since I played last.  I must say I am saddened to have my theory of the temple dog/foo dog distinction killed, however when I had him sign my books he confirmed a tidbit about the Blackstaff.  The Blackstaff functions as a buffer or filter that catches and absorbs/eats the taint of the black magic while powering itself off the soul of the user.  It is, as described in the book, a living thing and practically sentient.  The tendrils advancing into and up the user's arm are more aggressive and hostile rather than pulling out the taint.  Woot.

Well I've probably the ultimate lurker LOL with only a few dozen posts in 4 years.  It was pretty cool to meet other fans though since I couldn't get anyone to come all the way to KC with me.

To me the food wasn't really the big thing.  Just fun going out and talking about books with folks.

I review books for BittenbyBooks and got to do the review for Changes for the site.  You only have to RSVP if you want 25 points in the contest in which they are giving away 25 unsigned copies of the book.  You get 25 for RSVP and so many for every question you ask Mr. Butcher.  Also more points if you purchase any of the books in the Jim Butcher library.

Aine I still feel horrible about forgetting to hit record on your camcorder.  Knight that was the second time I've ate at an IHOP and can't say I'm too impressed.  All we have is Denny's but you really can't frak up scrambled eggs or fried bacon.

Yeah Jim was in top form last night.  It was great to meet all the forum members that where there.  Though the IHOP pancakes didn't sit too well with me.

I really enjoyed the Joesph-Beth Booksellers venue last night.  I've only ever seen him in Barnes and Nobles in St. Louis before last night and they are cramped and have little seating.  Plus most B&N's look exactly the same.

Though I didn't get to see the usual St. Louis Jim Butcher fans I've gotten to know over the last few years.  The Kentucky folks were very friendly.
