ah, ok. it'll be a while. I never have a lot to say :P

Go to the McAnally's section and read some of the stuff in there.  I'm sure you'll find plenty to say.

Is there a certain post count you have to hit before this is available? I have looked on every single page I could find and have not seen this option anywhere.

All i have is Personal picture, and to chose from the preset avatars, and personal text below that.

When you hit 100 posts, you get to choose your own avatar.  Start posting!

Site Suggestions & Support / Re: Possibility for active chat on Forums

any help with describing it..um I'm sorta a user not a maker...

I'm not entirely sure, either, but I imagine what they have in mind is kind of like IM, but through the site.  Many businesses will block IM, but not the website, so people were talking about a kind of real time chat feature hosted by you.  I'm not a programmer, so I'm not sure how you'd even do it, but personally don't see how it would be feasible.  Y'all have enough going on.

79
Actually, it's something we do deliberately to MESS WITH YOUR MIND.

Of course you do.  I'm not insane enough, apparently.

80
I don't but I believe my hosting provider does -- it's either a data backup or a log rotation at work.

That makes sense.  We figured something was up because it happens every morning at the same time.  It's too consistent to be a coincidence.  Thanks for answering my nosy questions.

81
I'm curious about something.  Every morning, around 1am EDT, the site locks up for a few minutes.  Do you have it set to do something at that time?

82
My brows are fearsome indeed!  And just wait until Jim and I join efforts: with our powers combined, we will form Captain Eyebrow Planet.

The mental image that envoked was...disturbing.

Ooo...These are on the bottom right now:

Dude!  Your eyebrows are generating their own ads.  It's the power.

84
Yep, the clicks help.  They've fallen off a bit from the highs, but that mostly tracks alongside the traffic curve, above -- so we've got a somewhat sustained improvement, definitely helping to continue to justify the increased costs of the server we're on.  :)

Good.  I'm glad things are going well.  If that changes, let us know.  We'll nag.

85
So it's a bit later; how's the site's traffic doing as represented by ad impressions?

Translation: It has eased off from the hectic boom of Small Favor's initial release, but traffic remains elevated overall, with the lowest numbers touching the top of the former highs.

YAY!  That's really great, Fred.  With JB hitting all the bestseller lists, more people will start reading the books, and since the paperbacks have your site in them, hopefully this will continue.  Has encouraging people to click the ads and shop the site store helped?

I don't think he's comfortable with being kissed by fans, but I'll give him a bag of the Hershey's variety. :D

If Daoine's hubby "won Christmas" with his shield bracelet, you, Randall, and Jim have won birthdays.

No problem.  I understand completely.  The "We're not worthy" scene from "Wayne's World" will work just as well.  Don't forget to take a picture.

I think Randall and Jim get most of the credit here, but thank you.

Hummm does that mean he'll get penalized for it on the vile thread????   :-)

You are the best Wolfhowls AND Helen you are too for planning such a special treat for Hawthorn..

Hugs to all!  (including Jim!)

I've been running on the "Vote for me because I'm nice" platform, so yeah, I think it puts a crimp in his campaign technique.  Gee, what a shame.

I was there, right in the front row, and I can tell you that he thought it was way cool that Wolfhowls had him sign the birthday card (and he liked the card too) and it was totally his idea to 'backdate' the book a couple of days. He just adds the year in most signatures.  He's really just the nicest guy you can imagine.

Stitch

This is what I hear, and what he did for my child seems to bear that out.  Given he's becoming one of the most popular writers, it's nice to see he's human, too.  We really appreciate it.  And of course, we both adore Randall.  He's a sweetheart.

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to post these, but since it happened in Houston, it seemed right to me.

My daughter Hawthorn's 15th birthday was on 4/4/08, three days before the signing.  We live in Miami, but it just so happens that one of the board great's lives in Houston.  Randall (Wolfhowls) (I so love Randall) not only got a book signed for her, but he got JB to sign a birthday card to her as well.  She got them today.  I took some pictures, and here they are:

Looking at the signature:

The birthday card:

The signature in the card:

And the book...he actually wished her a happy birthday and dated it on her birthday.  How cool is that?  I am officially one of his fangirls.  I have thus far avoided being anyone's fangirl, but he went way above what he needed to do to make her happy.  What a great guy.  Priscellie, when you see him this weekend, give him a big kiss and thank you from us, will you?

OK, this is yet another appeal to the Higher Powers:

Can't you rename Nostalgia "The Archive"?  Bob's gonna suggest we just go all the way and call it Ivy, but I'd take it as a personal favor if you'd just ignore that.

I'm seeing Jim this weekend.  We will turn the power of both our eyebrows at you.  Tell.

OK.  I didn't start these threads, so you don't get to ban me over them.  Deal?
