DF Spoilers / Re: Power Creep
« on: June 01, 2020, 06:27:13 AM »
The one spell that seems to be on the increase the most is Shield spell
1. Physical objects.
2. To being able to defend against fire.
3. Uses it effectively in the Raith Deeps duel in white night.
4. Uses it against the Denarians, noticebly goes up against Thorned Namshiels 6 or 7 'wave lengths attack.'
5. Naagloshi uses a similar 'wave length attack'only Harry defends against all of the different attacks.
6. Duel with Arianna, and the Battle of Chitzchen Itza.
7. Mab trains him so he doesn't even need the Shield Bracelet. Defends against the Summer Knight.
8. Redirects Hannah Aschers Fire Spell with ease.

Sidenote on the redemption motif. The Dresden Files it's pretty prevelent. The KNights of the Cross have to offer it to all of the Denarians, and other monsters they face. Sasha was a Denarian before he turned away, I would say he's been redeemed.

Thomas killed who knows how many women before Justine, and a few after. Hell even Harry offers redemption to Hannah Ascher. Some people have Snape syndrome when it comes to Morgan. Not me personally bastard had it coming.

Mollly has been redeemed at least twice. First with the mental whammy, second as the Rag Lady.

I don't think Macolm was a scion, I do think he's an angel or atleast, a part of the Purgatory Squad. I do think Leansidhes Godmother deal involved the death of one or both of Harry's parents. Only thing I can think of that would cause Harry to duel her in anger and grief.

I've always thought she met Malcolm on the minor talent circuit. A precusorser to the Paranet we know malcolm was an amateur magician stands to reason he'd be interested by actual magic.

I do think Malcolm is on the side of the angels he only appears to harry after Lasciel acts and reavhes out to influence harry.

He as much says so.

"So." I said "Why heaven I dreamed about you before"
"Because I wasn't allowed to contact you before" my father said easily "not until others had crossed the line"

Thats basically Urirls calling card only reacting in response. Clearly meaning lasciels shadow in response harry gets some light by a campfire with hia father.

The fact that we find Murphys Dad in the Chicago in Between Purgatory squad is an even bigger hint. Captain Murphy insists on no messages from beyond the grave to his daughter. Presumably malcolm has similar rules he has to follow.

DF Spoilers / Re: Is Harry Senior Council Level?
« on: May 27, 2020, 03:15:09 AM »
Ok so given that where would you rank harry within the white council hr puts himself w o thin the top 30 or so. If we include senior council would he make the top 10?

Senior councils 7. Assume klaus is 8. That'd put harry at 9 or 10. If we discount Cristos at 8. The only other combat near that level we know about would be Bjorn whom we only saw in Turn Coat on Demonreach.

Of course, but I think he could potentially pull a Cristos, with the Wardens and Younger Generation to get a spot on the council. It would be a good twist, him pulling the same stunt, and Harry could actually do it and pull it off, if he needed to. Klaus the Toymaker would just sigh and concede again.

Admittedly a WAG but a fun one.

DF Spoilers / Re: Thomas Crack Prediction
« on: May 26, 2020, 09:31:54 AM »
Nice theory. I suspect a partnership is more likely. With Thomas may be becoming co-emperor so to speak but still nominally for the most part having a tense alliance with Lara. I don't see her giving up power, but I can see her justifying to herself of using Thomas as 'acting boss'so to speak. (Mafia term for having a target boss for feds, while another boss usually the Underboss or a couple of the Capos are really in charge.)

So basically anyone looking to take down House Raith or the White Court would have to publicly attack Thomas as Raith King, before taking on Lara. Thomas gets more power, but Lara gets some protection from direct attacks.

DF Spoilers / Is Harry Senior Council Level?
« on: May 26, 2020, 09:17:30 AM »
Fairly Simple question.

Personally I think so, but honestly I've thought so since Changes, personal magic duel with Arianna Ortega who was around for millenia, ending 10 000 or so Red Court Vampires, including defeating the Lords of Outer Night.

Cold Days he leads the Wild Hunt and fights 2 youngest Queens and a Knight.

Skin Game defeats Hannah Ascher with ease.

Plus his allies, include Butters: Jedi Knight of the Cross, Molly: one youngest Fae Queen, Kringle/Vadderung, Mab, Leansidhe e.t.c.

Cinder Spires Spoilers / Etherialist
« on: May 23, 2020, 06:54:05 AM »
What would be some other Etherialists quirks?

Folly can't talk directly to anyone, Ferrus can't open doors, Madame is obsessive about manners.

I imagine theirs an Etherialist who only speaks in songs.

What would some other potential quirks?

Read that quotation from Lash very carefully, mortality has multiple meanings.

Cristos may or may not be a fool, but a fools demeanor can hide many things.

True it could mean becoming or gaining immortality. Then again harry did learn a lot during Ghost Story. Souls, free will, his encounter with a walker, that both fae and angels can't act without a balancing act in return.

Well given Lara as a high ranking memberand by extension the White Court. I nev err thought of them as "the good guys" even their involvement in paranet has alterior motives. Of course the fact that Lara has convinced predatory white court into helping an altruistic movement and battle against Outsider Fomor forces could be the ultimate benevolent machievellen spy master or politician trope.

But the idea of an Old One creating an organisation to take  out his competition is a good wag theory. Even Thomas says thats the motive  of their involvement.

I assume Rashif as Gatekeepr would know. Blackstaff might as well. Rashid says the White Council only knows as much as it needs to. Aand that theres paperwork for coming back from the dead.

Sidenote on the Death thing, severa characters have referenced how Harry would/has become more powerful or atleast wider notoriety because of his Death. Other than crazy necromancers. Goes as far back as Lash

Quote
"...your ability to comprehend your environment is very strongly defined by your belief in a number of illusions. Time. Truth. Love."
"Harry: "Enlighten Me"
"To do so you would have to release your hold on mortality"
Harry: "I'd have to die?"
Lash: "Again you have only a partial understanding. But in the interesst of expediency yes, You would ceasee living"

But more significantly Vadderung

Quote
"Nothing that significant just happens"

Quote
"Wizard... you have been dead and returned. It has marked you. It has opened doors and paths you do not yet know exist, and attract the attention of beings who formerly would never have taken not of your insignificance"
...
"Meaning now more than ever you are a fulcrum. Meaning your life is about to become very, very interesting."

As for Cowls identity, my moneys still on Simon Pietrovich with Justin being a runner up..

First said being who takes note of Harry post death and rebirth that I can think of is Hades. a God of Death charged with keeping souls in the underworld, who colluded and organised with Mab and Uriel atleast in part just so he could have a short conversation with Dresden.

As for Cowl my moneys on Simon Pietrovich, with Justin being a runner up. I'd consider Cristos being an option but Ebenezar considers him a fool, and Cowls not a fool, insane maybe but no fool.

I'm actually enjoying the more fantastical elements, supernatural nations and power becoming greater.

As for academic supernatural intellectualss I always thought that'd be the Alpha's role.
