Maggie as a spy is an interesting idea. But I'd say Odin may be on the good side, but Mab is on MAB'S side. Grey is on GREY'S side, but he has his own code of honor - if he is bought, he stays bought.

They knew her. Morgan also knew Harry. They were not on good terms. They just were on non-shooting terms.  might have been the same with Maggie. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Word comes out... well, can't ask Eb to do THIS wet work. Morgan would do, most likely. Loyal guard dog, with considerable power.

I don't think the WC planned the Starborn. They would not have LOST Harry for so many years of they did. Even if Maggie gave them the slip for a time... they would have found him. He'd have grown up, most likely, in Hog Hollow with Grandpa. Maybe even a pseudo Grandma. Where they could keep an eye on his and watch and guard him, while the WC developed their superweapon.

I think Nic's backup -- in the unlikely event she didn't lose it -- was that he knows the Coin-Summoning ritual (the one Lasciel's Shadow offered to teach Harry), so he could call it back at his leisure.

I think that may not work if someone has taken up the coin - they are using its power. Harry's was just buried.  First case, they HAVE the coin in use. Why do they want someone who renounced it? 

Life goes on.  It does not stop just  because you're traumatized by losing your cats. I had to go back to work after I buried my mother.  Coming apart at the seams wasn't a luxury I could avail myself of. However I  wish him luck and everything good going forward.

Thing is, "outer darkness" isn't that common in fiction. At least from what I have found so far. Do you have any examples you would care to share? The two closest are Dungeons and Dragons and the Lovecraft mythos that I have found.

And for a guy who is obviously a gamer (that time Gaming Harry complained about knowing exacts on a fireball's expansion, I suspect AD&D 3rd level spell) and a fantasy reader, those are two obvious influences.

  When you think about it, Mab and Lea cannot freely cross Harry's threshold, or at least I do
not remember them doing so.  The Brownies have permission as his cleaning service, but it is unlikely that Harry would have allowed them into his lab. Since he has never had an on page conversation with them we do not know their level of understanding as we do Toot.  So the one guy that can go anywhere he wants I think is Uriel.

Ah, but does going via a Way count as a threshold? Did Harry, or more likely it would have to be Michael, invite Mab that Christmas Eve? That's a MUCH stronger threshold, or did she just have to leave most of her power outside. Harry's crossed a threshold for the Ordo Lebes (sp) uninvited to show he had no eveil intentions - he basically disarmed himself.
