Great post, Breandan! I am more of the empathize-with-the-flawed when I write but I really appreciate both styles and find stories with amazingly superhuman heroes a wonderful escape sometimes.  ;)

Yes it is.

http://www.spoilertv.com/2010/10/2010-character-competition-dexter.html

Thanks for the link - I just cast my vote for Mal. And he's winning by a landslide so far. Yay!!! And I hate "Dexter" so I couldn't be happier.
So Mal beat Cas in Round 1, huh? Both are really cool characters and very apples/oranges so not sure how I feel about that one.

I don't want to talk about it. Just go vote for Captain Mal in Round 3.8.

Will do. Is it up yet?

There you go

Okay, not just anything. That poor thing looks like he's been through enough. His cute (if disfigured) face makes me a little bit less furious though, so I guess it does the job credibily.  ;)

Sorry, but I am more than content with these results.   8)

But, but, but...how?  ;) Just curious - did you like both shows? Did you ship Buffy/Angel? or Buffy/Spike? Just curious where it was a case of "love River" or "hate Spike" or something in the middle.  :)

River beat Spike?????? What? No way! I've never cared much for River and I ADORE Spike. I'm so bitter...give me something to punch and I might be alright in a month.  :-[

He has the snark and wit but not the "IT" that I think Harry has.

I have to agree with Chiana. He's cool but he just doesn't feel like a leading man, which is a must, particularly for anyone in the gumshoe genre.

icecream, I LOVE your choice for Morgan!  ;D

You put up a picture of James Marsters - at this point EVERYTHING is lost on Hatshep. ;D

By the by - no and no again on Nick Cage for Harry Dresden.

Lol! What was that? Did somebody say something? I can't seem to remember anything besides James Marsters gorgeous cheekbones.  ;D

And to be fair, most women of all ages tend to lose all faculty functions in their brains when it comes to James. In the Hawaii 5-O premiere, I started swooning as soon as I saw him and completely missed hearing anything that his character said. I had to rewind the DVR in order to hear the accent in his voice. Hee <3

So true, tiny! I had a hard time focusing on what he was saying, too. I just didn't want him to stop talking but the its like 'what was that wonderful voice saying?'  ;)

Hey Tiny - still trying to figure out where that picture is of Marsters that my friend took at Halloween.
Sorry, but this may take awhile.

We'll forgive you...as long as you find it! ;D

Has anyone seen the movie the Sorcerers Apprentice?  Is not Nick Cage the one for Harry?!  That movie needs to be reworked for adults.

Hm...I've liked Cage in a few things but I just have a hard time taking him seriously.

It might be an expensive habit but not an ephemeral one.  When you wake up from a reading binge in the morning - they'll still be there. ;D
Oh by the by that one book of quotes by women is called - An Uncommon Scold and is complied and arranged by Abby Adams.

Thanks for the recommendation! Looked it up on Amazon and added it to my cart on the spot. Looks seriously awesome!  ;D

My pleasure, I love sharing info on books I enjoy with others.
I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs - but I DO DO books. ;D

Lol! I get that 100 percent. If you have to be addicted to something, book aren't that bad. Even if its just as expensive a habit as some of the others.  ;)

They're a combination.  Oh, another book of quotes is - "The Uncommon Scold" a book of quotes by women.  Also the "Quotable Woman".  And if you like Shakespeare - then you'll love - Shakespeare's Insults - Educating Your Wit by Wayne F. Hill and Cynthia J. Ottchen.

Thanks for the suggestions! The books with quotes from women would be especially useful, given that I focus on several strong female characters over the course of my book series. And I do love Shakespeare! I may get that one just for the humor of it, functionality aside.  ;)

I love quotes too.
Jon Winokur has several books of just quotes.
The Portable Curmudgeon
The Curmudgeon's Guide to Romance
Writer's on Writing  I really like the last one particularly when they critique each other.  OUCH!!!

Those sound awesome! I've actually been in the market for some new ones - I'll look for them on Amazon.com. Are they mostly funny, mostly serious/inspirational, or a combination?
I currently have three - "Respectfully Quoted," "The Book of Positive Quotations," "The Most Brilliant Thoughts of All Time," and (don't laugh) "Uncle John's Four-Ply Bathroom Reader." (I don't actually read in the bathroom but my dad bought it and it has specific quote sections for Groucho Marx and Marilyn Monroe so I just had to steal it.) I'm kind of mixed on which book I like best..."Positive Quotations" is very well organized but the book I'm writing doesn't call for that many "positive" quotations persay. (What I write needs more quotes about mistakes, love, and evil. Awesome story, I know, lol.)  ;) "Brilliant Thoughts" has a lot of what I could use but its not well organized so its all so hard to find. Oh, and then there's "The Art Of War" (love that book!) but it doesn't exactly offer a wide range. Thus, I really need some new quotes books.

Idol is my favorite non religous reference

If you really think about it "idol" has a religious connection as well, if not as disrespectful as "god." Although in flippant modern usage its root meaning is has been all but removed (as is the case with "American Idol.")  :)
