That makes sense, Busc - especially as, as Dresden once said, Money is usually just a path for power in any case.

DFRPG / Greed-eating White Court feeding - what's it look like?
« on: January 03, 2011, 03:09:34 AM »
We know that the White Court feed while the victim is in the throes of a certain negative emotion (fear, despair, and lust, from what we have seen).  Wrath has also been given as a potential White Court emotion.

We know from some things Thomas has said that White Court feedings involve a certain amount of intimacy and trust, a lowering of mental defenses.  Lustpires, obviously, feed during the intimacy of sex.  Fear and Despair-eaters eat during strong bouts of terror and depression, both things that can A) be indulged in privacy and B) would tend to weaken the mind's defenses.

What form might a deep feeding from a Greed-eating White Courtier take?  Some interaction that involves physical contact, a certain amount of intimacy, and enough privacy that the initial deadly feeding wouldn't be immediately followed by a witch hunt?

It would be very hard - the high degree of custimizability means that there also needs to be a large degree of GM oversight, especially regarding Aspect compells and invocations.  Simple enough to do in tabletop, not in LARP

I agree, Mij, but therein lies a chicken-and-the-egg paradox.  Does Halloween weaken the border between the Nevernever and the human world because folks have labeled it a creepy day and attached occult significance, or have folks attached occult significance to the day because that's a day when the barriers are thin and things tend to leak through?

It's certainly likely, with the amount of belief folks invested into the end of the Millennium, that there was some in-world effect.  Not sure if it would act as a Threshold, but it might.

I played a character once, drawing on the myths of the children of Gaea in greek myth, whose toughness and resilience lasted as long as he touched the ground.

It's possible.  It's also possible that these Autumnal powers also passed to Summer/Winter when the respective Queens fell or changed Court.

an Item of Power granting Demesne over the Iron Spires themselves and control over the Monster (as well as some other critters).

also, probably a Macguffin.

Yikes.  that's a horrible and wonderful place - sounds quite a bit like one of the realms of the True Fae in white-wolf's Changeling: the Lost.

Also a wonderful location to throw the characters to see 'em squirm.  *evil grin.*

Does a character need to have spent a full day in the area of the Iron Spires before they are mentally attacked, or does the attack occur at some other point, and every day thereafter?

Okay, then. A Discipline or Conviction roll that acts as a block on the Threshold effect preventing spellcasting?

Please tell me that at least some of the Librarians take corporeal forms of some shape or other - and that at least one take the form of an orangutan!

This definitely has a place in the Nevernever.  Well done!

I'd use gathering energy as a navel-gazing Maneuver to grant a "brimming with power" aspect to yourself, which (per my understanding of the rules) could be tagged and invoked to improve your Conviction for power-summoning purposes.

Personally, I think it'd be more fun to have the players come up with alternate ways to hide their supernatural side.  Horns?  Grow long hair, or wear a hat all the time.  Hooves?  Long pants and fake shoes.  Green hair?  You dyed it.  Grew wings?  fold 'em up in a backpack, or something.

That's closest to what we see of the four Changelings in White Knight, anyway.  None of them have the mystical ability to hide their form.

Regarding multiple Aspects with one maneuver, I've seen it done while using the Overflow rules - so, if someone achieved 7 shifts on a Fists maneuver, they could place the Sticky aspect of "Off balance," costing 4 shifts, and have 3 shifts of effect left over with which to place the unsticky aspect of "stumbling"
