hm, I mean an agency who's job is specifically to cover up other people's traces. like "cleaners".

@THETA: Yes, sure. I just want to know what is out there so that I don't copy something 100%. I mean, the thing is not set in the US and will be a comic, so I guess it's novel in a way, but I would like to know other takes on it.

In the comic that spawned the two movies, the Men In Black also looked into the supernatural occurances too. There is the rpg, Bureau 13, that spawned some books. I think the rpg Chill also had a government agency that took care of supernatural thingies. In the novel that the movie Vampire$, there was an agency, backed by the Catholic Church, that went after vampires. There is the Initative in the Whedonverse. The Laundry, from the Jennifer Morgue, by Charles Stross.

You could also take the tac that we were canon fodder for another race. They were wiped out, and the reminants of their cannon fodder, our ancestors, were imprisioned on earth.

You can find all manner of ideas from eveyday life. I live near a railroad. I could come up with a dozen ideas from that.

Take a situation, say the power going out, and build a story from that. Power outages are good stuff to build a post-apocalyptic story around.

Do you have kids, or at least younger nieces and nephews? Write a story about how they find out that the Fair Folk aren't nice? Or maybe, on of them finds out that they have a magical talent?

You just have to look around.

I am no longer allowed to tell the younger Carpenter kids that Toot-Toot is Tinkerbell's older brother.

It could be an anti-light ward. Another suggestion, someone has made a perfect model of the city, and is using a version of contagion/sympathy to put up a never ending night.

The wrap around story could be about a new tour guide who, during training, finds out what is really going on.  ;D

Is the protagonist a psychic? A wizard/sorceror? Someone who just attracts the paranormal? A vanilla human who found out about how the world really is?

I will never quote Zevon's Werewolves of London around Billy or Georgia, again.

All the good stories are remade every so often. That's how come stories of King Arthur are still told today.

You could also call magic reality hacking, or quantum manipulation.
