DF Spoilers / Re: Billy and Georgia
« on: August 28, 2017, 03:34:09 PM »
Is that where they conceived their child, and if so, will being conceived while it's parents blood is contaminated with WCV toxins have any effect on the child as it grows older?

Georgia was pretty late-term in Aftermath, wasn't she? I think Changes followed Turn Coat pretty closely (like summer to fall closely) so she was probably already pregnant at that point, just early enough to maybe not have known so yet.

I doubt Cowl, as he's due to show up in Mirror Mirror per WOJ

I don't think I've seen that one yet? If you happen to remember where it was from, I'd be curious to read his exact wording about the Cowl appearance.

1it doesn't have to be rooted in angelic power, but isn't it? Drakul in the DF I think is literally Lucifer trapped in a mortal vessel without his power

Nice explanation for Michael's description of Mavra, but I'm afraid it doesn't hold together. We know Lucifer is not deprived of his power, because he sponsored the Hellfire pentagram traps in Small Favor - Uriel confirmed Harry's deduction that energy expenditure on that level had to indicate an archangel 'cheated' to involve himself, by saying that was what gave him room to balance the scales by granting Harry soulfire.

I doubt Mavra will be there. Someone put a question about her into, I think it was, the last AMA. Jim said her story has a planned endpoint, but implied her appearance in Mirror Mirror would be her next.

This is simply incorrect in the Dresden Files.  Drakul and Dracula are two completely different people. Drakul doesnt have any connection to vampires at all (that we know of), rather his son Dracula specifically and intentionally Created the Black Court in the course of vague family Drama and daddy issues.

I think the relevant WOJ leaned pretty strongly in the direction that Vlad Dracula didn't intend on exactly the result he got by founding the Black Court. It wasn't explicit, but I got the sense he'd halfway flubbed an ascension ritual and turned himself into a monster rather than a minor god.

DF Spoilers / Re: When is a Story not a Story?

JB has written several short stories since Skin Game and I am guessing he is using these stories to lay some groundwork.  This thread is devoted to guessing what those clues and factoids are.   If I remember correctly, we have the following short stories
•   Molly story where she travels to Alaska as Winter Lady
•   Luccio story set in the wild west
•   Butters story about a visit to the Zoo

Molly's story (Cold Case) was released after SG because the anthology it was in got delayed, but it was written earlier and set just about a week after CD.

So Carlos has had about 17 months more than just the SG-PT interval to recover from his injuries. He won't likely be back to fit for hand to hand combat yet, basic mobility is probably reasonable.

There's bound to be one for Dead Beat as well, but I can't think of it.

The Maltese Falcon.

The thing is with such a limited number of elders, I doubt they would ever gather together as it would present too big a target. So it would be a big deal for them to do so.

The council expert on the vampire courts was killed, but I. Wonder what happened to his gathered lord. I could see mavra and cowl eager for the parts concerning the BCV, that combined with necromancy would have epic consequences.

I'm pretty sure "Cowl" doesn't need Simon's notebooks...

I'm pretty sure it will just be time to catch up with the vampires in book 16.

Some of them have a recurring pattern, jim has acknowledged vaguely. Like the Denarians every five books, for example.
I expect most if not all of those to appear in the next one for the Peace Talks (probably not Cowl, at least not as an envoy).

Skin Game threw me for a bit of a loop with that. I'd kept expecting at least a B-plot with vampires, since one court or another has been significant somehow in every multiple of three up until SG.

I feel, though, that we haven't seen the end of her. Didn't Jim say that she would appear in Mirror Mirror, actually as an ally? I wonder if she was able to use the Word, too. She does have power.

The WOJ was ambiguous to an extent, but given that his phrasing was 'fast ally' I think prevailing opinion was that she's an ally to evil Mirror Dresden. Prime Harry might collaborate with her temporarily if it was necessary to confront a mutual enemy he considered even worse, but I don't think he could condone her as more than a temporary truce of necessity.

DF Spoilers / Re: Butcher Battle #19: Michael vs Langtry
« on: August 01, 2017, 03:23:31 PM »
Michael attacks Langtry either to save Molly from execution or in vengeance after an execution, which was called for by a majority vote from the council:  Michael fails; the sword breaks, and Langtry incapacitates him without killing him.  Quickly and efficiently.  He didn’t become the Merlin by collecting frequent flier miles, after all.

Using the sword irresponsibly doesn't automatically break it. Rather, it just becomes vulnerable to being broken. So if Michael tried to use it for personal reasons, Langtry could just lock him down in a cocoon of hardened air until he dropped it (that binding Harry and Elaine figured out may have sucked against other wizards who can attack the 'knot', but it's more than adequate against anyone non-magical).

Ive also toyed with the possibility that all mythological Creators throughout human history are facets/avatars of the same Entity. In that theory the Mothers are themselves facets of this Creator; the polar Fire and Ice primordial forces that created the world in the Norse myth

Many of the creators might be different facets of the same one, but we know the Mothers arose later from Hecate's mantle being divided and their Courts grew in power through sacrifices on the Table. And even if the original Hecate continued as Mother Winter, she wasn't a creator in her origins.

It would still prompt questions of, if they knew Justin had stolen the skull, why it didn't turn up in the wreckage after Harry defeated him.
