Title: White Wolf Fiction
Post by: pyroriffic on September 25, 2008, 06:59:44 AM
Hi y'all

So...a question.

I terms of fanfiction, which I gather very evidently isn't Discussed Here (which is all fine and dandy), where do people stand on the idea of writing character background stories for tabletop RPGs, such as (in this instance) Scion?

I'm interested to know what people think the classification of writing such stuff comes under, because, ostensibly it's fanfiction, right?  It takes an existing universe and uses it as the basis for the story.

I'd say that's fine, because tabletop roleplaying is an exercise in collaborative storytelling within a setting that has been put out there for that specific purpose.

Agreed with Neurovore. I've been part of an online roleplaying site using WW games back in the day, and the only problems WW brought up to the site owners had to do with publishing their game mechanics. That's the crux of their dollar. Most of their history and background is otherwise fair game, because like Neurovore said, you're using it for its intended purpose.
