When you reach 100 posts and become a Wizard you'll be able to have your own personal avatar.

That's weird.  I'm sure I posted a second time in this thread, and that earlier today.  Now - it's gone.

Ah well.

It's a plot to take your personal avatar rights away, Wizwad.... one post at a time.
Title: Re: personal Avatar
Post by: Wizwad on September 22, 2008, 11:07:12 PM
You could be right.  I was wondering if the Powers That Be had removed my post as being inflammatory, but it was only a dig about the first 100 being the hardest, then the next 14900 not so much.

Also, I'm suddenly being told that the thread you started about problems with the system has new posts.  I read both of your posts the other day, though, and there's nothing new there now, suddenly.

 ???

I think someone's mucking about with the settings somewhere at a Higher Level.

Could be... Mickey closed a thread yesterday at less than 50 cause high page draws cause system glitches and the topic was all over the place. It's possible they're finding glitches on the back end that only some of us are experiencing out here.

Can you say paranoia?

Plus your going to scare the newbies, they're going to think they've got this kick ass avatar set up and then POOF it's gone.

Expound upon your love of Barry Manilow, that ought to do it.

*flicke Ruesal in the forehead.* Hush, you! Or I'll take you into the dungeon, strap you down and force you to listen to Barry Manilow's Greatest Hits Volume 1, 2, 3 and 4 via headphones.

I love a lot of Manilow's songs.  And his self deprecating sense of humour has me won over to.

*queueues up behind MSD for tickets to next local Manilow show*

You're in Britain, aren't you Wiz? He was just there not too long ago... or else he's coming in Dec or something.

A friend and I are meeting in Vegas in two weeks for a Manilow weekend. I'm bringing a newbie. She's never seen him live before. hehehehhe....

The newbie will be flying for two days and then crash... I've seen it happen... Manilow Live is like crack.

Yeah, I think he likes it over here - he seems to come over quite often.  I've just not been in a position in the past, to take advantage of that.  Changing that soon, though!  ;)

Take care of the newbie - I'm sure she'll need it on the third day!

Are you kidding, Wiz! He LOVES Britain. Even when he thinks there are British in the audience in Vegas he opens up and the show is so much fun!

You have to go when he's there in London the first week of December!

And I promise, I'll take excellent care of the newbie.

Reusal, you just don't know what you're missing. You are among the uninitiated, that's all.

Go to Word Association in McAnnaly's, that'll get 'em going for you.

Yes, but Word Association gets purged every week or so, and you lose that chunk of your post count.

ok.

First, find the picture you want. Hopefully it's avatar sized. (no bigger than 100x100 on this forum) If not, we have to go another way. But this is simpler so we'll try it first.

Right click on the photo, select properties. A separate box will open. IN that box, look for a line that says Address URL. The line following it should start with "http://... blah blah blah"

Highlight the entire address, including the http part. Copy it.

Now come to your forum page. At the top, choose Profile. Once the view changes, on the left there will be a menu of options. Choose Forum Profile Information. Select the radio button for "I have my own pic" and then paste the address over where the http is in the box. (You don't want two http's).

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and choose Change Profile.

Done.

If it is bigger than 100x100, then post it here, I am sure one of us can resize it for you and then post the spiffy lil' version.

My av disappeared for some reason. Every time I upload a new one, it resets itself to the default of no pic selected.

Any suggestions?

Could it be the site you are using to host it?  IDK, I have never had any problems with mine through photobucket.

I've heard of problems copying and pasting images that are hosted on some blogs. Perhaps Aine is on to something. Where is the graphic you want hosted? Do you have a photobucket account?

I think it was originally from LJ. When I discovered it missing, I wondered if that might be it and uploaded something else to my ISP website server. I even tried Shutterfly, and nothing has worked yet.

I do appreciate the suggestions, though. I feel naked without an av.
