Oh my god, that's fantastic.  I just sent that novelist one to all my author friends.  Thanks!  I love the Onion.

"There's a novelists strike?" Ames, IA consumer Carl Hailes said. "That's terrible. When is it scheduled to begin?"

Hey, my town's now as famous as the novelists strike.  No person in our phone directory or the area and not a student or prof at ISU.  (wink) maybe he was just travelling through.  We aren't that big of a place.

Edited for thoughtful commentary... I wonder what the writing experience for the average Onion reporter?  Are they clever college, or bored journalists, or out of work comedy writers?  Ever wonder?  Do you know?  I have a son-in-law who would be awesome... :D
