Title: RP Board?
Post by: TMW on May 26, 2006, 11:58:13 PM
Given the propensity for Butcher-ites to be roleplayers, I was curious if there were any plans for making an RP board? I was honestly a little surprised there wasn't one already.

So...is it possible?

Hmm.  I'm worried that that could tread onto the territory of fan fiction, which is a no-no.  I'll keep this on my radar, though, and see what comes of it.

Why is fan-fiction a no-no?  (I don't actually read it, or write it, I'm just curious.)

Because if Jim becomes aware of it, he has to act against it as a threat to his copyrights.  An undefended copyright in the face of a known violation of it is a copyright forefeited.

Basically, if Jim knows about a copyright infringement and doesn't do anything about it, he's allowing his copyright to be worn away. This is why Disney protects its characters so strongly with lawsuits. If they let someone get away with it, the courts will let anyone get away with it.

Okay thanks for the break down, I guess fan fic would be a bad idea if it compromises the copywright
