Title: Black Cat Investigator
Post by: groinkick on June 21, 2018, 05:20:35 AM
Colin Murphy was a Black Cat Investigator.  Does anyone think the name has a specific meaning, or is it just a play on words (Black cat, bad luck kinda thing)?

Well, Cat's DO straddle the the inbetween capable of interacting with magic circles without disrupting it directly. Figure it's something in that aspect combined with the general belief behind the Black Cat.

I imagine they just called it that because of the broader magical imagery of a black cat.

I tried searching for the term in general, but the only thing coming up is a Chinese cartoon about a literal black cat who is a detective (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Animation/BlackCatDetective), private investigation firms or the Dresden Files' wiki entry about the CPD.

Maybe because they only get called into investigate when things get fishy.
