Title: Harry after the BAT
Post by: wardenferry419 on November 21, 2017, 10:55:28 AM
I am doing a fury of threads each concerning one character and what state they will be in after the BAT. First up, the main dude Harry. I see Harry as still alive but badly damaged. The Outsiders have been kicked but not eliminated. He is a semi-retired and re-opens his old detective agency.

I agree with this, with the addition that he also opens a school, with Maggie Jr. being his first student.

Nah, I figure once the big battle is done; Harry wants to go back to less interesting cases and more reading time.

A normal human life or even a wizard life does not give enough reading time.

He seemed to be doing fine on reading in the first couple of books.

How many books would you say a real dedicated reader gets to read in a lifetime? Maybe, 5,000 to 6,000?

You mean someone who does not have to work for a living?  :)

Nope, because a dedicated reader will work a job to buy the books they really want and to, ya' know, have food and a home. ;D

Harry is now the Merlin, he lives on Eb's old homestead and is surrounded by his daughter and many grand kids and nieces and nephews... He now has the family and peace he always wanted...

But by personal experience work cuts my reading time considerably. A good wizard can set up things in such a way that it won't be a problem anymore.

Ahh, but Harry rarely works with finesse; mostly he goes with force.

No chronomacy even if it is just to create extra reading time though if you have your own demesme you can probably do things to increase reading time.

Yeah, he could have his own Dragonball Z time chamber.

This feels like a comment that Jim would laugh at.....

I don't keep score, but I've read daily since I was five, on average two or three books a week. Hopefully I'll hit five digits before I kick the bucket.

Why?   If Harry's job is done, he either will  die or get his reward...

A wizard's work is never done. But, some decades are easier than others.

And why shouldn't Harry have a happy ending?  If he is indeed the author of the files, I'd say he has his happy ending..  However "happy" is in the eye of the beholder...

Surrounded by that many kids may be happy but it is not peaceful.

Harry having a family at all would kind of be the culmination of all of his efforts. Imagine him taking in Zero and all the other kids, too. The Harry Dresden Home for Kids Who Ran Afoul of Nasty Things.

I'm picturing a musical scene like the one in Annie.  Only with a lot more pyrotechnics.

Can you image Harry doing his impersonation of drunken Miss Hannigan, the orphanage runner? ;D

I really can't imagine him singing at all, but that would be funny.
