Title: question about enchanted items
Post by: potestas on December 06, 2016, 11:10:15 PM
what would a belt that transforms  wizard into animal cost.Under the enchantment rules. say into a wolf we have several examples in the books. I now the ritual would be costly and painful but what about an item that does it.

I'd skin an IoP as an item.  Especially if you are going to use it often.

Or, you could break it up into many enchanted items.

Want to change into a wolf and sneak by an enemy, it's a stealth skill replacement.
Want to track someone using your dog scent? That's a tracking spell(investigation replacement. )

Want to run away? Athletics replacement.

All narrated as turning into a wolf.

An actuall item that works like shapeshifting might be too many shifts for an item as they are capped by your Lore skill plus focus

The Paranet Papers have rules for shapeshifting via Thaumaturgy and, well... yeah, it gets expensive in shifts really fast.

For a full-on werewolf transformation, you're probably looking at 20-ish shifts. And under those rules, it's not a quick and easy change back.

So yeah, IoP or just the shapeshifting power is a much better idea.

IoP. This is the entire point of IoPs: "I have an item that does magic things."

Attach the build you want to the rebate, presto-chango, you're done. Easy peasy.
