if a wizard shield is bypassed and taken down does it still block the attack or does the attack pass through at full effect.(not armor)

It reduces the effect of an attack as though it were a defense roll. A Superb weapon 5 attack that hits through a Great shield and a Fair defense roll will do 6 stress.
