Title: Brand New to RPGs
Post by: gotetsu on November 25, 2013, 08:33:29 PM
Long time fan of The Dresden Files, and I've seen the posts about the DFRPG, I'm very new to RPGs in general, never really played a post by post or DnD before. Long time gamer, and video game rpgs are among my favorite games. Just wondering how I can start out in the DFRPG?

Welcome to the board.

Well a version of the rules is a good thing to have, so you can read up on that.

One of the best ways to learn is to actually play, though. Taran is just about to start a newbies game explicitly to show the ropes to people who are not familiar with the game. You can find them here:

maybe they have a spot open for you to test the water.

Have fun. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

I did take my name from "Beverly Hills Ninja (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118708/)", after all. ;)

Update:

We just finished the one-shot adventure today in the pbp section.  I think it went well and everyone seemed to have fun.

I might do it again some time because I think it was helpful for everyone - including me!

Note: I got a little lazy on my "tense" near the end and started flopping between past-tense and present tense.  Sorry if it's a bit jarring.
