So I know I've seen a topic on this before, but it was ages ago and I can't find it. Does anyone know (or have good ideas for) the name of Summer's capital and equivalent to Arctis Tor?
-
Highgarden? ;D
I kid, I kid. Something floral, or regarding a garden? Or something fiery?
Firebloom?
Something vaguely Latin, like Arctis Tor?
-
I figured it'd either be something latin, yeah, or something taken from Celtic myth.
-
The Broken series of fanfics called it Equis Val.
-
Arctis Tor = Arctic Hill (ish)
So decide what geographic feature you want the capital to be located within and go from there.
If with a "vale" (valley) or "dale" etc.
Then decide your descriptor in Latin or Greek Summer "Kalokeri" or Latin "Aestas" or Green (prasinus/a/um or greek Prasinos)
So "Kalos Vale" or whatever you like.

I'd probably have gone with Tír na nÓg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T%C3%ADr_na_n%C3%93g).
-
I second that.

I was thinking of that, but doesn't Harry mention he's on good terms with the "king" of Tir Na Nog in one of the books? I think it's in Changes, when he's looking for information on .

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T%C3%ADr_na_n%C3%93g is where the Tuatha De Danann live. Harry is on good terms with the Telwyth Tyg, who are Welsh.

Even if that's the case, there are plenty of ways to work around that. Harry is an unreliable source at times. For example, the king of Tir Na Nog could simply be a governor for Titania who is handling day-to-day business and little else.
And it just fits so very neatly. But I'm playing fast and loose with the canon at times, if that's not your cup of tea, there might be other places to look for.
Another option would be Avalon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avalon), of course.
-
Given what Hick Jr said, I'm gonna go with Tir Na Nog. I had someone else suggest Avalon to me, but I'm already using it for something different in a separate, but related, game to the one I needed Tir Na Nog for. Thanks guys!

Tir Na Nog is a name for Faerie - in one of the many Butcher posts I saw him use it in that way. In looking for an answer to this question, I was unable to find where Butcher has explicitly said the name of the heart of Summer. I kind of wish he would to be honest considering how important Faerie is overall to the story.
The Val suggestions were interesting. Hmmm...

It's a good thing that I don't need to worry about this for Pirates. Rordan going to Summer's capital would be a death sentence.

True, but I have to come up with a name for Spring's...which is a prison now...just in case you feel like going there. ;)

Makes sense, I suppose. You'd naturally favor languages you know.
