Title: Fairness of a House Rule
Post by: ways and means on September 15, 2011, 06:28:50 PM
I was wondering if anyone in their games had house ruled that control focuses/specialisations only affected control of a spell rather than both control and the attack roll? Do people think it would nurf wizards too much?

I don't think that would be terrible if you were looking for a way to nerf wizards, and as far as I can tell it wouldn't have far reaching consequences.

Make sure your table is all good with it though.

I would say it can boost both, but only up to the skill cap.  Then it just boosts control.  That way, you're encouraging wizards to have different skill sets and not just throw discipline as their apex every single time.
