Title: Real-time online DFRPG games?
Post by: Rechan on May 02, 2011, 06:21:05 AM
I know that this board supports PbP games. But is there a place on the net where Dresden games are being played real-time? Using voice chat and some software for dice rolling and such?

I don't know about any voice chat stuff, but I would think that Google Wave could work pretty good for a play by post. . .

You can use IRC with a chatbot for dice and skype or similar for voice. I'm pretty sure there's also whiteboard software you could use to show where characters are.

Google Wave would indeed be great, but I thought Google stopped that service?

Also, I KNOW about existing programs that would work.

My question is: Are there any places to go for one to FIND such a game? is there anyone HERE running such a game?

Check out Infrno. I am pretty sure you can do real-time gaming through their service.

Thanks for this lead.  It appears at a glance to have more features than Obsidian Portal.

Infrno is a virtual tabletop and scheduling services (for free!)
Its pretty slick..about to start a game for my brothers who live out of town.

Obsidian Portal is a game management site which many more features (but no virtual tabletop)
I use it to run my local games, it has a built in forum, wiki, campaign log, notes, characters..pretty much anything you need to keep yourself and your players updates/coordinated.
Its not free(but cheap) to own the GM portion, but is free for any of your players to contribute and view all your content.

Unfortunately these are two separate sites at the moment.
I have spoken to the developer of Obsidian Portal and he said he is working with the Infrno team to possible link their two services, but he told me they will probable remain separate.
Tis a shame because both do their "thing" very well, but it would be nice to have them on a single site :)

Edit: Here is a link to our Shadowrun game...its has made all of our lives much much easier :)

I'm about to try and start a DFRPG using Fantasy Grounds. This is a virtual tabletop for running pen and paper roleplaying games over the net.

I know there's at least one game going on at www.infrno.net (http://www.infrno.net)

That site has voice/video chat and a share-able "Game Table" app that's pretty badassed.

Not usually. Find the characterisation is better just using the text.
