Title: Um...Google Books has Your Story up in Color, Legal?
Post by: fantazero on April 20, 2011, 02:39:09 AM
I can PM a link to a Mod if they want, but Google Books has most of "Your Story" up on their website. I even heard people talking about using it instead of buying the book.

Grrr google

Far as I can tell, it's not the entire book.

Google only has a partial bit of the book, not the whole thing from what I can tell so its useless to people of thinking of using that instead of just buying it.

In any case, if Iago wants to get rid of this he just needs to send a DMCA take down notice and it should go down.

It's there because we put it there. I allowed a "fat" excerpt to be viewable as an experiment. Sales are still doing fine. Carry on.

Can you say more about that? More data is good data, here.

Sweet. In truth, it kinda makes sense; 3 or 4 pages of an RPG book really won't give much of an impression, at least not enough to draw any kind of "do I want this?" conclusions.

Yeah. Not sure I have to give folks a view of 50% of the book (I'll try dialing it back a bit), but the point for me is to provide the value of page flipping in a bookstore.

A full chapter would probably be sufficient to give the potential reader a good idea of just how the game's designers develop a concept, which is frakkin' important for the gamer. :) But when it comes down to it, as long as it's not the whole book, anyone who likes what they see would be compelled to GET the whole book. So, in that light, 50% likely isn't REALLY too much, either.

And Google having an Army of Lawyers will likely win, as sad as that is.

The Enron guys still haven't had anything bad happen to them yet.  Them and people like them caused a recession... and they still live like kings.

Whereas a kid who steals a candybar can go to juvie in a week.

Justice is an illusion anymore.

LOL!

That may be a bit much, but at this point I am willing to buy pretty much anything that Evil Hat puts out.

Does that count?

Seriously, Evil Hat puts out great stuff, and I absolutely love the voice that Fred give the company to fans.

 :)

I think Samael is right about this...no need to sue if you know that the possibility of winning is almost pointless...
