A strict reading of the rules would indicate that a creature with Venomous Claws could do either of these things, but not both:
1) roll an attack to cause physical Stress using the Claws power
2) roll a maneuver to place a deadly Poisoned aspect on the target
Are there GMs who are combining the two abilities into one attack? Poisoned is nasty enough without the added physical stress.

I wouldn't.
I see it as a conscious decision. The poison has to be actively released and the claws aren't covered with it. That actually makes a lot of sense because it's the way mother nature designed it in countless of species. It prevents one from accidentally poisoning himself or a possible mate etc.

Excellent! I had a Venomous creature successfully hit a player for 10 shifts of damage. I didn't dare add Poisoned to that, though I did offer it to the player as a Concession instead of the damage (he opted to take some consequences instead... funny that!).

Yeah... that would have been supremely dangerous and is probably a good example why it shouldn't be possible as a single action. Would be a hell of a lot of power for a measly [-2] extra refresh.

I think I've been running it combined but presumably the only reason is I has dimulative size meaning i can only do 1 stress in attack anyway but I do believe that it needs to be one or the other as it is so powerful. Saying that its a 3pt investment so it really should be

Agreed. It should be powerful. But Combining it will lead to ridicule stuff being possible without any major drawback like mental stress for a wizard and such.
