I've just started GMing a game, and I'm not sure what to do with NPC aspects
Do you reveal them when they are invoked by the NPC?
This is mostly a question for a social conflict I was running, as if they are revealed when invoked then the PCs do not need to do an empathy "Read" to discover them
Do they get a free tag if revealed in this way?
How do you handle this?
Thanks

i let my players figure them out through an empathy role or an investigation I allow either of them

So do you just say NPC X is using an aspect and get's +2 (knocking a fate point from their pile) and leave it at that for the players.
Or do you just secretly invoke the aspect when the NPC comes up short and not tell the players anything?
(I suppose the situation might give some clue as t the name)

My understanding is that you only tell them if the npc is getting compelled. Those should always be obvious.

The way I run it I give hints, in my last session the group were fighting body guards who, when attacked, "dived away from the gun fire like it was second nature.". The body guards had an aspect, Former Military. One guessed they were football players and lost his fate point, another guess military men and got to invoke it.
