Title: Shadow based spells

Anyone have any idea's for running a shadow spell based sorcerer?

Spirit Evocation would pretty much cover it. Check the entry in YS for spirit. It's more or less a catch all for evocation type spells.

Or you could always work out a "Shadowmancy" with your GM, but I'd agree with Drashna. It's all just a matter of flavor after that.

you lean that "shadowmancy" on the shadowbased discipline of one of the vampire clans from the old world of darkness (i think it was clan lasombra, not sure, i was always more of a mage player).

Ahh yes, Obtenebration.  I played Mage as well, but it helps to know the other critters out there.

Obtenebration is definitely spirit magic. Arms of the abyss creates shadow tentacles, you can create supernatural darkness, junk like that.

You might also consider basing your magic system on an alternate set of elements, with shadow being one of them.  I dunno, maybe something like shadow, spirit, matter, energy, void.  YMMV.
