Title: Multiple focus items?

I'm not entirely sure how the Lore limit effects multiple focus items. Is it that no more than (Lore) Focus slots can be given to on specific item or all of your various foci in general? Like if a game had a high enough refresh and a Wizard with Lore at Superb continued to take Refinement, could he conceivably have a +3 Fire Offensive Power, +2 Fire Offensive Control focus as well as a separate +2 Air Defensive Power, +3 Air Defensive Control or would he be limited to splitting the cap of five between his two foci?

I'm reasonably sure that the limit is per item, but the rule wording is somewhat ambiguous.  Note that if the limit were an overall limit on all focii together, then Carlos would be statted illegally (OW216).

I did think all bonuses in the same focus need to be the same level.

So you have a +2 Fire off power +2 Fire off control focus and a +2 Air def power +2 air def control focus.

nope, but all bonuses have to apply to all elements on the focus.

For Example:

Fire/Earth: Off Control +2 & Off Power +1 VALID
Fire/Earth: Off Control +1 & Off Power +2 VALID
Fire Off Control +2 & Off Power +1 / Earth Off Control +1 & Off Power +2 INVALID

Also, consider that you can only use one focus item for any spell.  That somewhat diminishes the returns of having a multitude of maxed out focus items at a really high refresh.

As far as I can tell you can't benefit from more than 1 item with the same bonus type per spell. So you could use a Power Foci and a Control Foci as separate items, but not two Control or two Power foci.

Which seems to imply you can use a Control Bonus on one item and a Power Bonus on another item.
