Title: question about focused practitioner
Post by: Ocelot2006 on October 10, 2010, 07:45:05 AM
was thinking about making a pyromancer but i was wondering. what about cantrips? could i light a cigerette with my finger or light up a room with my hands or stuff like that? or would that be considered casting a spell and therefore give me a stress 1 hit to my mental each time i do it?

There's a place in the rules where it says that minor magics (e.g. Harry's light spell) shouldn't have any cost or need a roll...  I'll have to look for the page number...

Edit:
Found it - Page 259 under the heading of Mundane Effects.
"Sometimes, you might want to produce an effect that doesn’t really do anything but add color to a scene. ... Any minor effect like this can be cast without a roll and will last for a scene for free."

Remember, if you use it in combat you do have to roll and take mental stress for it.

Or spend a FATE chip for it - if it's a mundane effect that has an impact.
