Jim and Shannon will be special guests at NorWesCon, April 21-24, 2011.
Details at http://www.norwescon.org/

You mean I finally get to meet them in person?! *faints*

*offers you fainting couch*

Oh, squee. I'll have to pull hubby's rune covered trench out of the closet. Which I made before I'd read any of the books, oddly enough.
-
Will Jim be doing a signing at NorWesCon? Does he charge for autographs? Is there a limit to the number of items he'll sign for each person?
-
I would assume there would be a slot for signings. No charge for autographs—just a GIANT chunk of time standing in line. And standard fare previously has been three items per person per pass through the line. Basically, get in line with three items, get em signed, if you want three more signed, go through the line again, if you have time.
-
Thanks for the info! Looks like I better prepare myself to go through the line at least 7 times. /sigh

Depending on the size of the con, that may not be possible.

I guess I'll see when I get there. Never been to NorWesCon before so I have no idea how big it is. Hopefully he'll have at least one, if not two or three, signing sessions during each of the four days of the con. /fingerscrossed

Okay... Now I'm really really tempted to go to this as well. I have family that lives just across the bay from Seattle, and Kat Richardson will be there as well. Hrm. I /might/ be able to swing it.

...I need to stop looking now. Cheapest flight round trip is $250.

Hi folks!
I hope you don't mind me dropping in on the conversation. I help handle Norwescon's Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/norwescon) and Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Norwescon/156183763079) pages (and am also their photographer), so I keep a Google alert for "norwescon" running that pulled up this conversation.
Norwescon is the Northwest's largest regional Sci Fi/Fantasy convention, usually pulling in a bit over 3,000 attendees over the course of the four-day Easter weekend. Maybe not up to Dragoncon standards, but we strive to keep a balance between being big enough to be well-rounded and interesting, and small enough to not feel like you're drowning in a sea of fen.
As programming and scheduling is still being hammered out, I can't guarantee anything regarding autograph sessions, and this is not official word (just covering my bases here). In the past, however, we've tried to have at least three autograph sessions, and the "big names" usually try to be around for two of them. I just went through my photos of the autograph sessions (http://www.flickr.com/search/?s=int&ss=2&w=41248367%40N06&q=nwc33+autographs&m=tags) from last year and realized that though I got the people giving autographs, I didn't get any good shots of the room to give you an idea of lines. Sorry about that! I don't remember it being insanely packed, however, and the guests were quite good about being willing to chat if there was time (I spent a good few minutes camera-geeking with artist John Jude Palencar).
If you have any other questions, our website (http://www.norwescon.org/) was already posted above, and you might be able to get a feel for the convention by going through our Flickr photostream (http://www.flickr.com/photos/norwescon/). Of course, you're welcome to ask me questions as well, and I'll do my best to answer...however, as I'm not a regular on this board and I have to balance Norwescon duties with the "real world," I can't necessarily guarantee a swift response.
I hope this has helped, and we'd love to see you at the con!

Bump for reminder to those interested.

I'd love to go - and it's only across the border, but it isn't going to happen: I work Thursday and Friday. :'(

:'( Say hi to Jim for me.
-
Anyone know when the time slots are going to be for signings? I have to choose either Saturday or Sunday to work, and i want to make sure i pick the right day so i can get up there to see Jim.

My hubby and I went just to the Thursday night. It was fun, saw Jim... didn't meet him as I was afraid if I did, I would say something that would be spoiler ish for my hubby who at the time had not finished "Changes."
Went to the discussion group that him and Shannon were on panel for (difference between paranormal romance and urban fantasy). I found that there was one author who certainly enjoyed talking! And no, it wasn't Jim or Shannon. Fun people watching too.
Jim and Shannon, I do hope that Seattle and Norwescon treated you well and that you enjoyed your time here! I also hope you will think about coming back again soon! I think we might try to hit another day next year as well. Apparently Thursday is the tamest when it comes to costumes and such. WEEE!!!

Rhiannon coined the term “incidental asshole” for the annoying character you introduce just to kill him off and we all plan to steal that term
Ha! Yes indeed. *Steals and runs*
