Huzzah!  I'll be there!  Probably with daughter in tow!  Nothing else on the agenda that day, so I plan to be early!

I intend to be there as well. I'm going to try giving them a call, see if there are any rules we need to be aware of and such.

Knight Disciple - If you bring a book to be signed, they will want to give you a marker so they can tell you aren't buying it from them.  If you buy the book there, keep your receipt handy.

Even though this is very short notice, don't be surprised if there's a big crowd.

I may wear my glittery shamrock antennae so recent fans from the forum can recognize me.

The subject says 9/14, but then the first post says 8/14. I am assuming it is August 14th?

I would love to stop in and say hello.  :)

Cool. So, probably shoot to get there about noonish, I suppose. If I can bring any book, I might just bring in my copy of Small Favor...

Hmmm... Herself has been hinting that a road trip would be a good thing...
< chuckles evilly while rubbing hands together >

Must determine if this will qualify...

Tamerlane -  Are you close enough to Independence to be there?  If so, watch for me & my shamrock antennae.

I would really love to be there....but when I looked up the directions it is an almost 9 hour drive. :'(

Even then I contemplated it but on such short notice it is a bit much. One of these days...I will get to say hello.

*stage whisper* Come visit Nashville Mr. Butcher. >_>

Herself and I will be there!
Making a weekend road trip out of it, and coming back thru KS to pick up Runzas from the Runza Hut... Yummy!

Yay Piotr!  Will you be staying overnight in the KC area?

There's a band playing at an Irish pub called Waxy O'Shea's Saturday night. (It's west of I-35 on Shawnee Mission Parkway at the intersection of Quivera.) Daughter and I and my best friend are going there for dinner about 8 pm. No cover charge before 8 pm.  $2/adult after that time.  Food is good and prices reasonable.  You're welcome to join us, if you'd like to.  Band starts at 9 pm, stops at 1 am.

A number of our SCA friends will be there.  One of them is in the band.  Not sure what kind of music it will be.

To other JB fans who go to the mid-day signing:  The above is really an open invitation; the more the merrier!

Just wanted to let everyone who's going to the signing in Independence Saturday to know about the evening entertainment that's available on the other side of the KC metro area.

Musical Blades, a pirate, sea shanty, comedy and Irish music band is playing from (9 pm to 1 am at Waxy O'Shea's  Irish Pub in Shawnee, KS.  Exit I-35 to go west on Shawnee Mission Parkway.  Pub is on the NW corner of the SMP with Quivera.  Come early for dinner,  Families welcome. ( Adult cover charge of $2 beginning at 8 pm. )  The food is good, prices reasonable.  Hope some of you can make it!

To hear what the band sound like visit this website:  http://www.musicalblades.com/
They perform at many RenFairs around the country.  Some of you may have already heard them.

What no one is going to tell us what Jim said at the signing?

We who could not be there want to know tidbits of info he let slip!

There's...not really anything to tell. I mean, it was just a signing, there was no Q&A. I think Jim was there as much to support Shannon and Deidre as he was himself.

Also, there weren't many people there. What line there was was perhaps 15 minutes long at the longest. Probably could have gone through a few times if I'd wanted to.

Sorry I forgot my shamrocks, guys.  Saw a number of folks I know from previous events.  Yay!  MegEvonne was there! Soulless Mystic, of course.  Gingerbread Man was there. It was good to meet you Knight Disciple!  I aske several couples if they were from Oklahoma, but didn't manage to encoutner Piotr & Herself  (maybe next time?).

Cool people, as is usual at a Butcher signing.

Diedre was also cool.  I bought the first of her books and the latest of Shannon's, and the "Dark and Stormy Knights", of course.

Diedre is also Shannon's agent, if I recall correctly.

Shannon has another book coming out in November (in the Sentinel Wars series).

Jim is working on his new series, but not ready to talk about it yet.

There were many photos taken. Can't recall the name of the guy in the red shirt was next to in a group shot. (If you read this, please remind me!)   I even managed to get a few on my digital camera.  Haven't yet had time to look at them or try to post some. One of these days.

The gentleman in the red Kool-Aid Man shirt was Cape Rust, a contributing writer at Geek Life (http://geek-life.com/). He asked myself, Mystic, and a couple other people some questions about Dresden, the event, being a fan, etc.

Looking forward to pictures from people!  ;)

Thanks, KD.  Now I'll have to see if he's the one I was next to in a group shot.

We were actually there for a whole 5 minutes. <LOL>
Then life, in the form of a (thankfully minor) family emergency poked it's head up out of it's burrow...Sending us scurrying to take care of things...
Sorry to have missed everyone - things just conspired to keep us from being where we wanted to be.
Did manage to get in some minor amount of antiquing before heading home.

So, yes please, next time...  :)
