Title: Simple Evocation Question

My wizard wants to use Ice as a medium, what elements do i need to know?

What element is the base element?

This depends on how you view the other elements I would suppose. My personal choice would water but I have also seen arguments for fire. If you consider that the fire element could control the tempreature in the area then it is possible it could create ice [Small Favour spoiler]

But the whole system is based on what is symbolic for your character. Perhaps artic winds? Having the ground absorb the heat?

Depends. The general consensus seems to be that, like lightning, ice is a use of various elements. Fire can be used to remove heat from an area, so that's one possibility. Water certainly should also be able to do ice, and freezing winds are obviously the domain of Air. But you only need one of them to do it.

Bear in mind that the most important thing is how your character visualizes the Elements and what HE thinks Ice would be part of. After all, people with other mystical frameworks wind up not even using the same Elements, much less specific usages.

Thanks I just wanted to see if what i thought was inline with the community and since both of you pretty much agreed with my take on it i'm good to go. its easy to over think these things sometimes  ;)

i'll be using water as my basis for my ice magic. Its what my character would use to him ice is the the arctic and his mind would use water and wind to build that construct.
