Title: Van helsing character
Post by: Vash the white on May 12, 2010, 02:32:50 AM
What class would you put Van hellsing (as was in the movie, not strokers van hellsing) Champion of god, emissary of power, pure mortal, true beliver?, was curios because sometime this summer a friend of mine and i plan to start a game, and i would like to be a monster hunter type.

What happened to the Scion of Anubis?

Quote
I think Echoes of the Beast (Jackal) might be good. Perhaps some sort of special Werejackel/Weredog?

But other than that I can't think of anything, for being one of the more popularly portrayed Egyptian deities... Anubis doesn't seem that interesting for game mechanics.

Dead (Ghost Speaker/Ritual Necromancy?)
Rebirth (Ritual Ectomancy/Biomancy?)
Seems associated with Sirius in the heavens and Cerberus in Hades (Soul Fire and/or Hell Fire?)

"Best" Van Helsing type person is probably a True Mortal with Stunts out the wazoo. I had a variation of a Minor Talent I called a Cassandra's Warrior.

Quote
Cassandra’s Warrior[-1]: As Cassandra’s Tears, but with the Spiritual Guidance effect of Guide My Hand. User only gets visions of things he might be able to interfere with (distance and time to interfere effect the maximum spacial range). These visions are typically related to future supernatural events or attacks, though the visions may occasionally involve the non-supernatural. The visions may happen at anytime and are usually accompanied by a massive headache (temporary aspect that lasts for one scene).

Came to the same conclusion as you

I'd say Guns, but there is a Gun stunt in the examples section that deals with bows so you may want to take a look at that.

The Stunt is called Way of the Bow, page 153 in the Guns section. EDIT: Use Guns instead of Craftsmanship to build and repair such items(Bows) and your skill roll with them gives you an extra +1 damage on a successful hit.

There are also other Stunts you may want to look at, such as Marcone's Trick Shot Artist or Sanya's Way of the AK (Which might be a modified Way of the Bow), either of which could be modified to use. You could very easily have a Baby Green Arrow that hunts evil monsters.

Kincaid would also be an excellent example of a "mortal hunter" type character, minus his powers.

I thank you, you've re-inspired me to revisit my Cassandra's Warrior and stat him up as a monster hunter.

Also consider a Guns version of the Fist stunt Killer Blow, I think I called my Boom Headshot. I also did a Weapons version called Eviscerate.

Allucard was what inspired me to do a monster hunter, in fact an exact copy of him is one of this guys enemys/allies, i would give him pretty much high everything, cause you know how he was by the end.

and your welcome for helping me  :D, and i like the stunt ideas
