It would be really cool if we could opt out of a thread. There are threads that really change, either by going into a new direction or being hijacked and I get notices for it until the split or it gets locked.
Of course I can just delete the notification when it comes up... but being OCD and a compulsive reader, it would be soooo much easier of I could just click on: Stop receiving notifications regarding this thread.
Or, is there a way to do that and I have been too much of a Luddite to find it?
Thank you!

I asked about this once before. There's not a way to do it.
But I'd love it if someone were to make it possible.

Just click 'notify' again, it'll ask you if you want to stop getting notifications.

Wait! I'm sure someone told me it wasn't an option. I love you, man!

Obviously Iago would be played by Chuck Norris.

Oh, wait -- I didn't mean email notifications. I meant the show new replies notifications. I get those even on threads I have no email notification about (which is all of them. I don't email notification about anything here because I live here.)

Ah. Yes, as far as I know there's not a way to suppress that. :(

Dashed my hopes! :(

Now I must weep hot tears...
Not really. Thanks anyway, Iago!

iago, there's a query to the db that pulls the the info, add a column to the table that query that stores a bit, add a checkbox to the page that pulls the query that people can store a value in. Alter the query to pull only records that aren't tagged in the checkbox that tags the bit. It will cut down on bandwidth, and will speed the board up.

I know how it would be designed in a database. The fact of the matter is that I do not have sufficiently deep expertise with this out of the box forum system codebase, nor time nor inclination to gain it, to make it happen, especially if the next update would just blow that away. It's a big enough pain in the ass to get spoiler tags operational again whenever I do that.

It's okay, Iago. I don't mind. That is why they have the delete button. Not to worry about it. *hugs*
