Not if we use IRC (Internet Relay Chat).  I think we can set up a channel on an existing server.  It's been a long time since I've worked with IRC, so I don't remember exactly.

  I have to agree with you on the chat room feature for this site. I like the idea of discussing favorite characters and creatures. So much to talk about but no one's listening.

I find Yahoo instant messenger is more than sufficient for sidechatting with my friends here. And we can open rooms when three or more are in on the conversation.

The problem for me with having a chat client on the site.. aside from the traffic issues, is that with the way the forum is set up here, people in other time zones can log on at their convenience and enjoy the craziness and intelligence left behind. Can't do that with a conversation in chat.
