Help with Faieries!!!
« on: August 18, 2008, 01:06:12 AM »
Hey,
I need the name of a Fairie who's male, but not Oberon and is at least sorta well known.

Can anyone help?

Puck?
Ah sorry.
Need a king or prince.

Puck is cool, but he's the court jester!

Well, it depends on how specific your fairies are.  A couple Tuatha de Danann (who probably were the foundation for the kings were Bres, Lugh, and Nuada.  The king of the Tylwyth Teg was Gwyn ap Nudd.  Either he or Arawn (another king) led the Wild Hunt.  And if you just don't want to use the name Oberon, you can always go with Alberin or Alberich.

Thanks, I needed two kings.
Oberon is one, and I'm going with Gwydion for the second.

Thanks again, all.

Just throwing this out there....

If you find something close, you could come up with your own name/kind-of history for the character...

Then at some point in the book find a way to explain what humans have known him as.

Going this way, you could use Puck, and describe his usage as court jester as the other Fae having better PR with humans.

Again, just an idea...not sure if it'll help.

It might be to late, but I found another Faerie King & Queen for you: Finvarra and Oonagh (Irish). I got these, of all places, from a faerie book I was reading to my daughters.
