Our sacred board has finally been hit.  Just got pm'd an Asian gay porn spam from Charles Swab.  Grumble.
Just because I haven't posted recently, doesn't mean I haven't been on the forum.

I just got the same thing.  Being female, strangely enough I did not click on any of thost links.   >:(  That was in the e-mail in my in box on my Mac.

I did, however, get the proverbia eye-full in my IMs.  Jeez, who is doing this and why?

Raunchy message claiming to be from here
« Reply #7 on: August 25, 2006, 05:35:49 PM »
Hey guys, I just got a nasty message from what said it was the "Jim Butcher Community" claiming it had important news from Charles Schwab. Being the nutball I was, and since the message looked real, I clicked on the link to the website. Instead of it being related to Harry Dresden, it was a picture of.. well.. let's just say it was pretty tasteless and not something I'd want my kids or any kids to see.  >:(

Be careful folks. If you get something that sounds like this, I wouldn't bother opening it. It made it through my several spyware scanners and virus blockers, so I don't think it had anything malicious software wise in it, but it was pretty icky, just the same.  :-\

Sincerely,

Mad Monica

Iago's word on the matter.

PS: I merged 3 threads on this matter, which is why it may look like someone's repeating what someone else said.

I had opened one of these before I realized it was not from iago. Is this simply spam or do we need to have deeper concerns about this? I am too much of a computer novice to know.

I got the same PM from Charles Schwab. I PM'd Iago and Mickey complaining about it before I found this thread.

So Mickey and Iago...ah....never mind.  ;D

Thank you,
Paige

I got one as well....I had my suspicions that it was what it was.  People suck.   >:(
I corrupted my family with Harry Dresden, Harry Potter, Weather Wardens, Temeraire, and Buffy.  What have you done today?

An idea would be to restrict people from sending pm's or emails until they have X amount of posts (I think 10 posts would work well enough). Another forum I visit requires people to wait 5 days after registration before they can post, this could cut down on spam aswell if it becomes a serious problem.
