How did “Evil Bob” survive his creation?
« on: November 01, 2021, 07:24:41 PM »
Seriously.  Ghost Story established that spirits need a shielded vessel or sanctum to survive sunrise.  “Evil Bob” doesn’t have one.  The NN attached to Harry’s apartment was Lea’s garden… how did he survive the first day after his creation?

My theory is he was shielded by Good Bob when he suppressed everything about him.  That might not have been Bob's intent, but that is how I think it happened.

He retreated into the Never Never, Bob can survive in the Mortal world because of his Sanctum, he needs the sanctum because he doesn’t dare spend much time in the Never Never because of Mab.

Evil Bob moulded a part of the Never Never as his demesne like a powerful ghost, he doesn’t have the knowledge Bob has about killing Immortals so is therefore safe from Mab in his demesne.

Or maybe it was just an oversight. Not nearly as fun.

Hence my question.  It doesn’t seem like a Demesne in the Never never is something any entity could just snap together and EB didn’t have a sanctum to retreat to like Bob.  EB seems like he should have died shortly after his creation.  That or been a bigger threat to Harry after he was created given the location of his creation.

I doubt Lea's garden would be particularly effective at keeping a spirit being from fleeing after it crossed over from Harry's home. The centipede took a bit of time to swing into action. EB could pretty easily just run away.

Evil Bob knows about all the loopholes, much better than Harry when he did his ghost routine and Harry found a place to hide. It is not like all ghosts and unattached souls and so on are fried every day, there would be little left if that were the case.

If we go back to Dead Beat when Harry first ordered Bob to unblock his memories of the time with Kemmler there are clues.  One is that EB never went anywhere, he was merely blocked, depressed by Bob.   It could be that we have it backwards.  In other words, EB was always there, he was the original, like the shadow of Lasciel that long term exposure to Harry changed over time into Lash..  There was no "Bob" until Harry named him, there was just the spirit who previously worked for Kemmler and then Justin, and he wasn't very nice, I'd say he was EB.  I think a better question is how did Bob survive Harry ordering him to unblock his access to the time when he was that other?

Did someone say ‘crazy theories’? Just say my name.

Working backwards Justine was infected by the Winter Lady, who was infected by Lea, who was infected by Cowl with the Athame, who was infected by Elaine who is Kumori, who was infected by Justin when he died, who was infected by Kemmler who may have been patient zero. Kemmler, Cowl and Maeve were working with Nemesis like Nick with Anduriel learning what they could and passing it on - Justin, Justine, and Elaine were not doing so voluntarily making them less than ideal hosts. This presumes Nemesis needs a host, and can transfer only to someone in their proximity.

The Summer Lady was never infected, she just went crazy like Maeve, but had to work around her mantle rather being able to break its hold.

I was just thinking of Justine = Justin theories. After he escaped the fire with nemesis help he got a magical sex change and rejuvenation.

Can we just sing the “mantle, mantle” song?

Though Justin actually being Kemmler is an intriguing possibility.

And just like that you get sucked in.

I don’t think Justin was Kemmler, but he was sharing his body with Nemesis who had a previous willing host, Kemmler. When Kemmler finally had no way out, Nemesis did. Just like with Maeve.
