Harry’s Birthday Post Battle Ground
« on: October 31, 2021, 10:21:15 AM »
It’s the 31 October during Next Book, how is Harry celebrating? Trick or Treating is probably somewhat limited, costumes are more likely on the obvious cute rather than gothic as it would trigger far too much PTSD.

Harry has the Castle, but Murphy, Thomas and Justine are not there to help him celebrate. Eb is likely still hospitalised and all his Warden friends are dead, stuck in an alternate universe, or being lickspittles for the Senior Council.

The Alphas are available and likely Butters has healed.

In the circumstances I think Harry hosts a Halloween Party for his neighbourhood, in his Great Hall as a safe place with plenty of food brought in from the Never, Never, and food such as candy apples, pumpkin pies, chocolate etc that can be taken away and eaten over the next few days, by hungry families.

Harry wouldn’t really want to do this, but would do it for the sake of Maggie and that she needs to get used to her new neighbours, and they to them. Remember his neighbours knew Mouse, but not him and Harry needs to rectify this.

Oh I can see the three of them going trick or treating, Harry, Maggie, and Mouse.. They go as a cave man family, Harry the Daddy Caveman, Maggie the Little Girl Caveperson, and Mouse as a Mastodon..  Then I can see Lacuna stealing her candy and pelting Harry with celery for being an irresponsible parent, letting his child have so much sugar.. ::)

What about Bonnie? She'd be a showstopper on the Trick or Treat rounds.

You have PTSD and a 6 foot 9inch badly scarred man turns up on your doorstep wearing a fur and a loincloth, and carrying a club what would you do? This costume would show off his most recent scars the second bullet wound to his chest, and the lucky lightening strike which cauterised it (in Harry’s lexicon that is what passes as good luck).

Remember some of the scrapes in The Good People? People are on a hair trigger.

Besides Harry as Rincewind (with Wizzard Hat), Maggie as Tiffany Aching (with iron frying pan, that will put the wind up Jenny Greenteeth), Mouse as The Luggage would probably go over better (both have infinite capacity). Better though to do those in the safety of the Castle where people are expecting such things and are sitting on a chair behind their front door with a shotgun.

Harry can put Bonnie on top of his staff with a large black robe billowing out under her and an hour glass, as the Death of Discworld

Depends if they saw harry save their lives or not... those in his neighborhood might have a different opinion.

You shouldn't eat Faerie food because it's made of ectoplasm by WoJ.

What would happen to someone who spends a year or more in the nevernever, eating nevernever food, breathing nevernever air, then returns to the real world? Do they get sick/die as all the ectoplasmic stuff in their bodies turns to goo, or does it metaphysically become one with them?
They get sick and die. That’s why you shouldn’t eat Faerie Food. :) After, what is it, seven years or so, you’ve completely replaced the cells in your body with new cells. If they all come from faerie food, you just glorp to the floor. I think there might be some brain left.

Yes but food brought in from outside Chicago via the shortcut of the Never Never.
