Just finished reading Peace Talks

Just finished "Peace Talks".
Keeping  in the no spoilers zone warnings: OY VEY!  After reading it  I feel  like I ran a marathon... dragging Mouse on a wagon behind me.  I recommend a good bit of lay down afterwards.

I'm tempted to wait until Battle Ground is out and read them together. Don't know if I can wait that long, but we'll see...

I finished it last night, and because of how long I waited, checking every month since I finished skin game I am now wishing I hadn't consumed it at that staggering pace. Already time for a reread. It's been a long time since I've had to explain to my family that the book I'm reading is important enough to take precedence over just about anything else. At least we only have until september for the next one.

Just finished and I'm glad I only have to wait until September! Lots of fun seeing all the signatories interacting with each other and goin deeper on some of the relationships and the lore.

This is definitely the better way to do it. It is a single book, divided into 2 parts.

Yes, it doesn't feel finished. Well, because that's because it isn't. But I couldn't have brought myself to not read it, as soon as I had it. I was working the nightshift and I extra went out onto the emergency stairs to get WLAN, so that the book could be delivered.  :o
But I don't regret reading it.
I'm not sure I want to discuss it yet, so I'm not visiting the spoilers section. Maybe I'll wait until BG drops and after I've read that.
Also I managed to start another book after PT. A good one. Wouldn't be fair toward this book, if I stopped reading again, because my thoughts are with Harry. LOL

I have mixed feelings on PT because on one hand, I did debate holding off on reading specifically because I heard the other half of the story if in BG. On the other, considering it's years since the last Dresden, I caved fast once I actually had the book and saw all the discussions on it.

I'll probably do a reread anyway closer to September but I think it's one best enjoyed with tempered expectations. It's a book that's a lot of setup but the payoff is presumably a book away. Even the central conflicts of the book — Thomas, Harry and Eb — isn't completely solved so while the book tries to end as cleanly as possible it isn't a perfect landing.

Great book, worthy of the series. Maybe the greatest stakes Harry has to deal with is coming in the next book. I can see where this whole series is going, really, and I can also see one of the biggest plot difficulties I would like Butcher to address as we get closer to the end of this great series. And that is, why have the mortals been so successful in taking over the world? Why did the supernatural nations let them? These are good questions, no?

I finished reading the 340 pages of PT and I was not happy with the ending.  After 5 years of waiting then this?  And now when Battle Ground comes out next month I need to shell out another $28 to finish reading it.  Not sure what's going on here.  After the 630 pages of The Aeronaut's Windlass for a nickle less, I feel a bit used.

I hope Battle Ground makes up for it in content.  And yes, I am waiting for the next book in the Cinder Spires series as well!
