Where does Monsters fit in the timeline?
« on: April 07, 2020, 05:49:13 PM »
I just bought the Parallel Worlds book for the Dresden Short story. I am excited to check it out, but I am in the middle of a chronological read through of everything Dresden in preparation for Peace Talks. Where is the best place to put the Monsters Short Story in the reading order?

Hi, Marty ;)
Like Arjan said, after Skin Game, because that is, where the main character of the short story is first introduced.

Thanks. I figured it was sometime after Skin Game, but I wanted to check and make sure, in case it was a prequel kinda like how "A Fistful of Warlocks" was for Luccio.

There are several other short stories after Skin Game as well, i.e. Jury Duty, Zoo Day, etc.  Does it matter where Monsters fall in relation to them?

As far as I remember it doesn't. There may be a mention of how much time has passed since Skin Game, but I don't remember. If there was, it wasn't important for the story. But he definitely knows Harry by the time. ImO you can read the story whenever you like after SG.
