I was rereading The Garden of Rama and came across this description of a fictional device:
The Komori stimulator is an electrochemical device that attaches to the heart, forcing it to beat and continue to pump blood. If the pathology is temporary, like a blood clot or a spastic valve, then sometimes the problem can be fixed and the patient's heart will start functioning again.
On the basis that Butcher is a fan of Arthur C. Clarke and that this device does a sci-fi equivalent of what Kumori did when stablising that by-stander, I wonder if this mightn't be the origin of her name?
