Mab said Thomas being in (true) love made him "mortal enough" to work as a Winter Knight, so I don't think species is that much of a restriction.

I don't think he's the personality type for it, though. Look at the number of times he's suggested Harry go take a vacation away from Chicago rather than confront some dangerous situation. He's more than willing to face danger to protect the people he cares about, but he's not as inclined to get involved when it's about strangers.

I draw a distinction between "mortal" and "human." Thomas isn't a human, but he's very, very similar—human-adjacent, if you will.

Regardless, I agree that Thomas's personality doesn't lend itself well to him being a Knight anyway. Aside from his semi-selfish nature, he's way too susceptible to temptation, including wrath. We've seen how well that works out with both Murphy and Harry earlier in the series. In fact, I can pretty much see Thomas trying to use the Sword for treachery and breaking it, precisely how Harry did in Grave Peril.

Maybe he could use it temporarily, during the BAT—I could see something like Murphy's Changes Chichen Itza Charge, but not on a permanent basis.

I'll be surprised if Thomas ever carries the sword again.  Been there, done that.

As to the sword burning out his demon and he and Justine becoming the new Michael and Charity .. no way.  His life view is far too different for that.
At times I wish I had a clone, but then I realize, I could never live with that a-hole.

When did Thomas carry the Sword?

Nope, you're right.  I mis-remembered.  Thought He'd carried it already.

I think during Changes.

Susan had amoracchius and Murphy had Esperacchius.

And of course Sonya still had Fidelacchius

Okay, good. I thought I had missed it in one of the Brief Cases shorts I haven't read.

Thomas hasn't been too active in recent short stories.

His arc feels pretty much resolved to me, fwiw.
Mildly OCD. Please do not troll.

kittensgame, Sandcastle Builder, Homestuck, Welcome to Night Vale, Civ III, lots of print genre SF, and old-school SATT gaming if I had the time.  Also Pandemic Legacy is the best game ever.

I would say that Butcher still has plans for Thomas. Maybe as the future Lord Raith but still being managed by Lara.

I just figure if Big Daddy is losing his stuff then maybe Lara would want little brother to step up as pseudo-boss.

She has a whole bunch of sisters who are probably more suitable.

But Thomas would be more manageable due to Lara hold on Justine. Her sister's don't have that point of vulnerability.
