Was the winter court after molly longer than we realize?
« on: July 01, 2017, 06:39:32 AM »
Sorry if this has been brought up before, but a quick search didn't yield any results. In re-listening to the series, I noticed today that all the way back in Grave Peril, Molly was the child mentioned in Lea's first attempt to strike a deal with Michael. Seems kind of an interesting choice when there was a newborn available, and the fae loves dem some baby........

I believe that was a generic give me your eldest child Sidhe Tradition, at least originally, that was in the third book where the mythology was getting worked out, but in hindsight I think it was one of those things that happened to work out, this might have been answered in the WOJ section if you want more details.

Ah crap, I forgot she was eldest overall, for some reason thought Daniel was older when first considering this and thought eldest daughter seemed kind of a random place to start rather than eldest overall or newborn.

I think a far more interesting questions is, what is Michael going to do about it.

If you'll recall, he threatened to set things in motion that would destroy the Leansidhe for all times (iirc).  Now that Molly IS part of Winter, will anything be done by Michael?

Personally I cannot WAIT to see Molly "come out" to her parents.  Hopefully it will be in Peace Talks.

And Michael?  I can see him laying Harry out at the very least.  You need to remember he's out of the game now, though, so I don't think Lea's going to be too worried.

Michael still has connections. But I agree, he's out now.

Connections with a strict "hands off" policy when it comes to mortals and from what we've seen a "defensive actions" policy for the supernatural.

As neither the Lansidhe, nor Molly are mortals any longer ....

Doesn't change the fact that his connections are mystical PROTECTION.  Lea would have to do something to challenge that, and one thing the Leannansidhe is not is stupid.

Well, now .... we also don't know what Michael had in mind back at Bianca's party.  I doubt he was calling on Uriel all that much to do things for him.

"I'll put things in motion..."

Just doesn't sound like he'd be going to Heaven for such a thing.

Well, I have a feeling that Winter's eyes rested on Molly about as soon as Winter realized she was magical, which was probably rather early in her life.

Fwiw, the WOJ Serack is talking about is this:

I think Jim is being coy.

Though I love the idea of Jim going back and identifying potential easter eggs for down the road, rather than having intentionally put them in way back when.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE easter eggs.

He says he's ended up working out a few things like this, like wizard longevity being related to Harry's ability to recover from injuries long term.

As for pretty deliberate Easter eggs, there's a gorgeous one about Molly in the third paragraph of Small Favor, and I've theorized that Uriel showed up in book 2

You're probably aware of the famous light saber comment from Butters in Ghost Story, and the theories that Lacuna's name is a direct reference to the Latin word for a gap, as in between teeth, making her the tooth faerie.

The Ghost Story thing is cool.

But the Uriel theory would REALLY impress me.

I mean I know Jim is a Genius, but that would be really cool.
