High Concept: Chargeless Qarin in ExileInvoke: To aid in making connections in the criminal underworld, to influence surrounding people, boost wish granting and glamours
Compel: Shame around other Jinn, poor connections with Jinn communities/individuals
Trouble: Of Two NaturesInvoke: More effective when running to the extremes of my two natures
Compel: No moral compass, reactions to things can be wildly inappropriate ranging from violent to apathetic to downright magnanimous.
Background: Kadeen was born to the second highest ranked family in his city with the royal family being the only clan ranked higher. The expectation for Kadeen to be great was apparent to him from a young age. His family had led the Jinn city's religious interests since its founding, and Kadeen was set to inherit a position of power as a highly ranked qarin when he matured. Having been groomed with his people's secret ways of influencing humankind, Kadeen was particularly adept at reading people and pushing them toward desire. He need only find his path and then he would be ready to set an example for all other qarin.
Aspect: A Noble's DignityInvoke: Familiar with politics and manipulation, good at reading people
Compel: Easily offended when not shown the "proper respect"
Rising Conflict: When Kadeen came of age, the elders revealed the human he was bound to. He was a wealthy young man from a respected family. Kadeen saw the young man's dark proclivities and decided he would guide his charge toward goodness. Kadeen gave every effort to influence his young charge for the better, but at every turn the young man chose a life of petty selfishness and cruelty. Kadeen's failure to make any change in his charge ate at him. The only advice the elder jinn could give was to let go and have faith in Allah, but eventually Kadeen could no longer accept it. With bitterness and bile in his heart, he decided to show the young man just how dark life could be if he continued along a selfish path, and so he pushed the young man harder and harder toward destructive decisions. The young man died shortly after. With Kadeen having set himself on the path of goodness, the elder jinn saw Kadeen's actions as a perversion of his inner nature that led his charge to die before his appointed time. As a result, the elders exiled Kadeen forcing him to live apart from his people. He is forced to make a living in the markets of humanity feeding upon the underbelly of society. If you know the right underground connections you can find Kadeen granting wishes for the desperate and destitute. No one else will pay for his services any longer because they know it is little more than trickery and illusion
Aspect: Black MarketeerInvoke: Able to find illicit and/or rare items,
Compel: Reputation as a swindler (not always a bad thing, but likely always complicates things)
First Adventure: A New EnterpriseLife for Kadeen had not been easy for some time. Business dwindled to near nothing and Kadeen was seriously considering picking up a mortal job. As luck would have it, that wouldn't be necessary. An Islamic sect was interested in an artifact they suspected was in the area. Any member of Islam would be loathe to interact with a qarin that was disgraced like Kadeen, so Kadeen knew they must be desperate, but they assured him he was uniquely qualified. He was also in no position to turn them down. The job required Kadeen to secretly acquire information being studied by a few mortal academics at the Bahrain National Museum. Kadeen found that the unique attributes of a jinn and his skill with glamours lent themselves very well to burglary, investigation, and generally sneaking about, though this discovery was a new tesitiment to the depths to which he had fallen. After sneaking undetected into the museum, Kadeen was surprised to find the academics dead and the information he sought gone. Knowing failure here would spell his return to scraping out a meager living on the black market, he decided to contact a woman in the area he knew had a unique connection with the dead. Kadeen would not let this opportunity for a new profession pass him by. Enlisting the help of Nora and a local half-ghoul named Junayd, the three of them tracked down the required information and disposed of the competing agents who had murdered the academics at the museum.
Aspect: Uniquely QualifiedInvoke: Highly motivated to prove his worth, Proficient at casing, inflitration, skulking, hiding, shadowing, eavesdropping, and surveillance
Compel: Protective of his newly budding position in the black market, Reacts badly to anything that might jeapordize his new reputation as a procurer of items and information
Guest Star: NoraShortly after being exiled, Kadeen comes upon a group of elves overwhelming a young woman. This is the first time he has gone this long without a companion since his appointment as a qarin and he finds himself unable to sit by and do nothing. A part of him sees the opportunity to make things worse for the woman and he is tempted to help the elves, but when he sees another person emerge from the woods to aid the woman, he is disgusted with himself for even considering it. Kadeen throws himself into the fray and for the first time in a good while merges with another.
Aspect: Qarin CompanionshipInvoke: Qarin are trained their whole lives to be companions to mortals. He is stronger and more confident when in the presence of people he has formed connections with and will push himself harder for the sake of people he knows.
Compel: Without others, Kadeen is somewhat incomplete. This makes him less confident, more susceptible to unwise actions, and generally lost without others he has formed connections with. (He has learned how to function without companions, but it still creeps up and overhwhelms him from time to time.)
Guest Star Redux: JunaydJunayd finds himself in a tight spot when a band of werewolves begin pinning their crimes on him. Kadeen sees the half-ghoul's immenent failure to defend the ghoul clan's turf and subtly places himself in Junayd's path. A short bout of negotiation leaves Junayd with some wishes and Kadeen with enough to survive for a few more days. When Junayd wishes for evidence to prove the werewolves' guilt, Kadeen can't help but complicate things in the hopes Junayd will find himself in need for more wishes. However, after getting to know Junayd and understanding his desire to use his hunger to make Manama a better place, Kadeen find himself truly helping the young half-ghoul.
Aspect: Your Wish, My OpportunityInvoke: Highly effective glamours when in the service of others and when twisting a person's wish,
Compel: Glamours can fade at inopportune moments, and Kadeen doesn't always know when it would be better not to twist a person's wish.
