African Firestorm's First Draft is done!  ;D

Sent it off to the other guy to look over and see what needs to be rewritten. I know it needs some changes (I'm no Rex Stout), so untill then, back to Battletech stories!!

I took a week off from writing Set In Stone.  An idea for a crossover fanfiction between Dwarf Fortress, a game, and Worm, a serial fiction, dangled itself in front of me and I grabbed at it like a kitten after a length of yarn, rolling in it and entangling myself hopelessly until it was finished.

Fourteen chapters and somewhere around 30-40k words later, Overseer stands complete.
I didn't bother counting the words.  It has nothing to do with Jim's universe, so I'll drop a link here. http://www.royalroadl.com/fiction/1353

Thanks!

I definitely plan to keep writing.  The current original project is going to be e-published.

As for the ending, yes, Worm has quite a bit of Deus-Ex in it, like most super power fiction.  I used the Deus-Ex factor of Worm to turn the main character from a vanilla player into a player that modifies the game.

8k Admiral's War

I think the destination is great, I just don't see you able to do more than 3 full books worth with it all front loaded like this, and when I would honestly prefer to see a 12 book arc getting there.  The journey can be more fun than the grand super powered culmination at the end.  Its all about the struggle against the bad guys which is hard to keep fresh if you top out early.

Personally I loved her range increase and didn't understand how the S9 survived.  I get that it was some kind of reality/illusion reboot but the text didn't make it clear.  And if it was a reality reset why couldn't she reboot some of her adult dwarves?  Like I said not quite clear enough for me to see the leverage areas.

Honestly I like the idea of a clan of dwarves popping up the state park of a super-hero modern world.  I just wish some of her master craftsmen survived as well as see a few of her electrician dwarves really take off.  I also liked how people assumed that Overseer was geographically limited, because of 13 seasons of isolation while she rebuilt her clan/army.  Its clear top me that she wasn't going to risk the outside world until she was back to full strength or somewhere close to it.

Anyway really cool start, I'd just like 'more' which might be hard if she's top of the world class already.

Oh, Overseer won't be expanded on, unless a whim strikes me.  It's crossover fanfiction, nothing to do with any of my original work.  Set In Stone is the project that might get published.  As for your comments about the way the story was put together, yes, it was compressed a good bit in a couple places where people who don't know the crossover source material would have issues.  I wrote Overseer in six days, it's a bit of a rush job, but quite fun!
