Supernatural Senses
« on: March 22, 2013, 09:18:35 PM »
So I was trying to make an investigator at feet in the water whos only power was supernatural sense. So I also took the broad sense upgrade so that he has a lot of them. This is what I came up with so far:
1: Perfect Sense of passing time
2: Idetic Memory
3: Can see footsteps
4: Can see heartbeats
5: "Has Eyes in the back of his head"

But I need more. I would love to hear your suggestions. I dont care if they apply to the character concept or not. If you have an idea for a sense put it here and I would love to hear it.

Smelling the weather - I know I can smell the rain coming! But obviously this as a Supernatural Sense power would take that a bit...further.  :P

A sort of motion sense maybe? In a sense, that the character can see how much force and at what angle he'd need to throw a stone to hit a target, for example. If you've seen Alphas, one of them hat that power. Could calculate complex chain reactions like that in his mind and set them in motion by activating a relatively minor linchpin. Or he could throw a coin into a soda machine from 10 feet away without much aiming. Or shoot through a vent with a regular gun, the bullet ricocheting like a billiard ball over and over and still hitting the target.

The same series, a woman had enhanced senses throughout, hearing, seeing, smelling, everything. Could hear someone shaving on the other side of an office building, or see a hair in the carpet just by scanning the room from the door.

Being able to see and interpret wireless signals (including radio and television) was one another characters power. Listening in on a cell phone conversation, police radios, newscasts and much more.

Maybe only take strange senses, and take them to fit your character concept. For an investigator, that could be a trio of enhanced sight, smell and vision. Spend the extra fate point on a stunt that lets you use those senses even more efficient and call it a day. For example the "+1 on a roll, -1 time increment" stunt, I don't know what it is called right now. Feels more in line with an investigator like that. Idetic memory can easily be an aspect.

Reposting a list I once came up with for a thread somewhat like this one:

Detect emotions
Sensing how others see you
6.28 vision
See around corners
Ignore complete darkness
Determine someone's worst fear/greatest hope
Sense True Faith
Sense morality
Detect disease
Detect poison
Detect areas where reality is thin
Sense magic
Sense electromagnetic fields
Echolocate
See the weak points in objects
Ignore blindfolds, earplugs, etc
Be a living compass
Detect borders and boundaries
Determine someone's age
Sense fate
Hear things that people thought about saying, but didn't
Sense someone's age by looking at them
Sense blood type
Determine approximate vitality
Detect whether someone is a capable combatant
Detect agents of (supernatural entity)
Sense explosives

(6.28 vision is eyes on the back of your head. I was going to call it 360 degree vision, but I thought it would be funny to use radians. And I didn't know how to add a pi symbol to a forum post, so I rounded.

Which just goes to show that my sense of humour isn't necessarily the best.)
